History of construction
Yuhua District, located in the southeast corner of Changsha City, is a new urban area established by the adjustment of Changsha administrative division in 1996.
On August 11, 1938, the 4-level Baojia system in Changsha municipal district was changed to the 3-level Baojia system in towns (townships). In the suburbs, there were four townships, namely, Wenyi (the fourth one in the former district), Jinpen (the fourth one in the Second District), Yuelu (the fourth one in the third district) and Huichun (the third and fourth ones in the Fourth District).
In 1939, four towns were set up in the suburbs, including Wenyi town in the engineering fortress, Jinpen town in baishaling, Yuelu town in Rongwan City, and Huichun town in fushouqiao.
In December 1945, the town was transformed into a rural district. The city was divided into eight districts: Chengdong (Zhudong pailou), Chengnan (zhushetan Street), Chengxi (Ruyi Street), Chengbei (Dangbu East Street), Wenyi (Tanggong Temple), Jinpen (Baima Temple), Yuelu (Fuwan city) and Huichun (Wenchang Pavilion).
On August 4, 1949, Changsha was peacefully liberated, with jurisdiction over eight districts, namely, East, South, West, north, literature and art, Jinpen, Huichun and Yuelu.
On March 30, 1950, a suburban office was set up to lead the four districts of literature and art, Jinpen, Yuelu and Huichun. On June 10, the suburban office was abolished and the suburban Working Committee was established.
In May 1951, five townships were transferred from Changsha county to the suburbs.
In February 1959, the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to abolish the suburbs of Changsha City. Huangtuling and xinkaipu in the area under its jurisdiction were assigned to the Southern District, and the rest of the areas were incorporated into Changsha County.
On January 12, 1962, the suburbs of Changsha City were restored. In addition to the original suburban areas, Tianding and Wangyue in Yuelu District and the suburbs under the jurisdiction of Changsha County, eight people's communes and Jianli town were included in the suburbs. In November, eight people's communes (Anli, Lidi, Gaotang, changchong, wangxianqiao, Dadi, Nandi, Dongjing) and Langli Town, Tianding and Wangyue, which were included in the suburbs of Changsha County, were assigned to Changsha County.
In January 1978, Datuo, Dongjing, Lituo communes in Changsha County and Wangyue commune in Wangcheng County were put under the jurisdiction of the suburbs.
In December 1980, the suburban Revolutionary Committee was changed into Changsha Suburban people's government.
On April 22, 1996, the State Council approved and agreed to adjust the administrative division of Changsha and establish Yuhua District. Yuhua District governs five streets of zuojiatang, houjiatang, Jingwanzi, Guitang and NANDA road in the former Southern District, three townships of Lituo, Dongjing and yuhuating in the former suburb, and the District People's government is stationed at No. 4 Renmin Road.
On June 19, 1996, Changsha City adjusted its administrative districts. Nine townships, ten farms and one town in the suburbs were divided into five municipal districts. Some townships and towns were reserved in the suburbs, and some urban areas were taken over to form a Yuhua District integrating urban and rural areas.
