Dancheng county is a county under the jurisdiction of Zhoukou City. It is located in the east of Henan Province, at the junction of Henan and Anhui provinces. Its landform is Eastern Henan Plain. It is said that Laozi, the founder of Taoism in the spring and Autumn period, refined "Dan" here, so it was called "Dan Cheng" and later called Dancheng harmoniously. The Western Zhou Dynasty belonged to Li and Chen, the Warring States belonged to Chu, and the Qin Dynasty belonged to Chen County, Ku county and Xiang county. In the Western Han Dynasty, the counties of zhiningping and Yilu (now Ningping town and Yilu town of Dancheng county) were established. Sui kaihuang six years (586 years) home Danxian (Zhijin County), early Tang Dynasty abandoned, later known as danchengji or Dancheng town. On October 22, 2018, it was selected into the list of pilot areas for the integrated development of rural primary, secondary and tertiary industries in 2018. Historical evolution
Dancheng County belonged to Li and Chen in the Western Zhou Dynasty and Chu in the late Warring States period. Qin belongs to Chen County, kuxian county and Xiangxian county.
In the Western Han Dynasty, Ningping county and Yilu county were set up in the territory.
After Wei county was abolished in the Three Kingdoms, it belonged to Wuping County of Chen county (state) and kuxian County of Qiao County.
From the Jin Dynasty to the northern and Southern Dynasties, kuxian county was renamed Fuyang county and Guyang County, and its original territory still belonged to it.

In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, most of the area belonged to Luyi County, guide prefecture (now Shangqiu), and a few belonged to Chenzhou prefecture (Kaifeng Prefecture in the Ming Dynasty), Huaining County and Shenqiu County.
In 1914, Luyi County set up county assistant in Dancheng, and it was abolished in 1930. In 1941, it belonged to Luyi County, the second administrative supervision area, Huaiyang county and Shenqiu County, the seventh administrative supervision area.
During the period of the Chinese people's Liberation War, the county was the active area of the democratic regime in the border areas of luhuaitai County, lubotai county and shenluhuai County led by the Communist Party.
After the founding of new China, in May 1951, Henan Dancheng Office (county level) was set up in some districts and townships of Luyi, Huaiyang and Shenqiu counties, belonging to Huaiyang special area.

In January 1953, Huaiyang district was abolished and Dancheng county was subordinate to Shangqiu district.
In December 1958, it was merged into Kaifeng District along with Shangqiu district.

In 2000, Zhoukou district was abolished, and prefecture level Zhoukou City was established. Dancheng county belongs to Zhoukou City.
