Zhecheng county is a county under the jurisdiction of Shangqiu City in Henan Province. It is located in the east of Henan Province, the southwest of Shangqiu City, the middle and lower reaches of Huiji river. It connects Suiyang District in the northeast, Ningling county and Sui County in the north, Luyi County in Zhoukou City in the south, and Taikang County in Zhoukou City in the West. As of May 2019, Zhecheng county has a total area of 1048 square kilometers, 2 offices, 10 towns and 10 townships, with a total population of 1044000. In 2018, the county's GDP reached 22.6 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 8.7%.
More than 6000 years ago, the Yan Emperor Zhu Xiang's family established its capital and was buried in Zhecheng; in the Xia Dynasty, Zhecheng was called "Zhuye"; in the Shang Dynasty, it was called "Qiudi"; in the Western Zhou Dynasty, it was one of the founding capitals of the state of Chen; in the Warring States period, most of it belonged to the state of Chu. In the Qin Dynasty, the county was set up. It was named "Zhexian" because of the circulation of zhegou in the city, the cluster of Zheshu trees on both sides of the river, and the abundant Zhesi since ancient times. It was named "Zhecheng" in the Sui Dynasty. It has a history of more than 2200 years. It is the origin of Zhu, Hu and Chen families in China. There are many cultural relics and historic sites in the territory, such as the mausoleum of Zhu Xiang, the ancient city of Zhecheng, the tomb of Xia Ji, the former site of the Central Plains field army headquarters and so on. Ronghu in the county seat is a National Water Conservancy Scenic Spot, a National Wetland Park and a national AAA tourist attraction.
Zhecheng has convenient transportation, with eight provincial roads in the shape of "meters" all over the territory. The county has formed a transportation network with expressways and provincial trunk roads as the main, county and township roads and village roads as the auxiliary, and trunk and branch roads connected in all directions. Tongzhe coalfield from Zhecheng in the East is the largest coalfield in Henan Province. Zhecheng county is a national high-tech industrialization base of superhard materials and products, with diamond output accounting for more than 70% of the country, and is known as the hometown of diamond powder in China.
In October 2018, it was selected into the list of pilot areas for the integrated development of rural primary, secondary and tertiary industries in 2018. In May 2019, after the provincial special evaluation and inspection, it reached the standard of getting rid of poverty and officially withdrew from the poverty county sequence. On January 22, 2020, it was named National Garden County by the Ministry of housing and urban rural development.
Historical evolution
More than 6000 years ago, the Yan Emperor Zhu Xiang's family founded the capital and was buried in Zhecheng, where Zhu's surname originated.
It was called Zhuye in Xia Dynasty.
It was called "autumn land" in Shang Dynasty.
The Western Zhou Dynasty was one of the "three Ke" Founding capitals of the state of Chen, from which the surnames of Hu and Chen originated.
During the spring and Autumn period of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, it was the junction of the state of Chen and the state of song, where the battle of Hongshui took place between song and Chu.
During the Warring States period of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, most of them belonged to the state of Chu, and a few belonged to the state of song.

In the Eastern Han Dynasty, zhe county was subordinate to the state of Chen, while Yi county was renamed "Yan county" and subordinate to the state of Liang (governing Shangqiu and Suiyang).
During the Three Kingdoms period, the county was divided into Chenjun, Liangguo, chenliuguo and Qiaojun. Zhe county belongs to Chen County; Yan county belongs to Liang state.
In the Western Jin Dynasty, it belonged to the state of Liang (governing Shangqiu and Suiyang), and the county belonged to Yan County and Wuping County (governing Wuping village, Qiuji Township, Luyi County).
In the 16th year of kaihuang (596 AD), Yan County was abolished and zhe county was restored. It was renamed "Zhecheng county" and belonged to Liang county (later renamed Songzhou).
During the Tang Dynasty, it belonged to Suiyang County of Songzhou, and the Southwest (Anping and Tieguan) belonged to Chenzhou.
During the Song Dynasty, most of them belonged to yingtianfu in Nanjing and a few to Kaifeng in Tokyo; Zhecheng county was located at the junction of the two capitals.
During the Jin Dynasty, Zhecheng County successively belonged to Kaifeng Prefecture, Suizhou Prefecture and guide Prefecture.
In Yuan Dynasty, Zhecheng belonged to Bianliang road of xingzhongshu Province in Jiangbei, Henan Province.
In the early period of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Kaifeng Prefecture, the Minister of Chengxuan in Henan Province.
In the 21st year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty (1542 A.D.), the old city was in Dashui, a town of Jinxiang, but not in Zeguo, which is now called "Beijiu Lake". Jiajing 33 years (AD 1554), the city moved to the south, so far.
In the 24th year of Jiajing (1545), it belonged to guide Prefecture and Kaifeng Prefecture, respectively.
During the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to guide Prefecture and Chenzhou Prefecture of Henan Province, and the county government was located in guide Prefecture.
In June 1914, Zhecheng belonged to Kaifeng Road, Henan Province.
From 1937 to 1945, Zhecheng belonged to Yudong road in Henan Province.
After the surrender of Japan, Zhecheng belonged to the second administrative region of Henan Province (governing Shangqiu County).
During the war of liberation, on the eve of the Huaihai Campaign, Comrade Deng Xiaoping led the army eastward and stationed in Liulou village, gangwang Township, Zhecheng, where he established the headquarters of the Central Plains field army.
After liberation in 1949, Zhecheng belonged to Shangqiu District of Henan Province.
In 1958, Shangqiu and Kaifeng were merged, and Zhecheng belonged to Kaifeng.
In 1961, Shangqiu district was restored.
In 1969, Shangqiu area was renamed Shangqiu area.
Shangqiu City was set up in 1997, and Zhecheng city belongs to Shangqiu City.
