Jinshui District Jinshui District, under the jurisdiction of Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, is named after the Jinshui River, which originated in the area during the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period. As of 2017, Jinshui District has a total area of 242 square kilometers, 24 streets under its jurisdiction, with a permanent resident population of 1.7133 million and an urbanization rate of 91.57%. It is one of the most economically developed urban areas in Henan Province. Jinshui District is the political, economic, cultural, financial and information center of Henan Province. With prosperous economy, convenient transportation, advanced facilities and perfect functions, the district has unique geographical advantages and relatively high-quality resources.
In September 2018, Jinshui District was rated as one of China's top 100 districts in 2018; in July 2019, Jinshui District was rated as a national intellectual property project demonstration county (District) by the State Intellectual Property Office; the second batch of national agricultural product quality and safety counties.
In 2019, the Gross Regional Product of Jinshui District will reach 175.25 billion yuan.
Historical evolution
Jinshui District is named after Jinshui River, which flows through the district and originated in the spring and Autumn period and Warring States period.
Before liberation, it was under the jurisdiction of Zheng county.
In 1948, Zhengzhou was liberated, and Zheng county was divided into Zhengzhou City and Zheng county. The urban part of the jurisdiction belongs to the city, and the rural part belongs to the county.
In 1953, Zheng county was abolished and suburbs were established. Part of the urban area under the jurisdiction belonged to Longhai District, Erqi District and Jianshe District, while part of the rural area belonged to suburbs.
In April 1960, Jinshui people's commune was established, which is composed of nine sub district branches and one agricultural sub district, namely, Qiyi, Zijingshan, Renmin Road, duling, Huanghe Road, Cultural District, zhengfeiji, Gangdu and Nanyang new village.
In August 1961, Jinshui people's commune was transformed into Jinshui District, 9 sub district branches into 7 sub district offices of duling, Renmin Road, Huayuan Road, Jingba Road, Wenhua Road, Nanyang Road and Nanyang new village, and agricultural branches into Jinshui agricultural commune.
From April 2012 to now, Jinshui District has 17 offices in Wenhua Road, Nanyang new village, Jingba Road, Dashiqiao, Renmin Road, Huayuan Road, duling, Nanyang Road, Fengchan Road, Beilin Road, Weilai Road, Dongfeng Road, Xingda Road, Guoji Road, Fenghuangtai Road, Yangjin road and Fengqing road.

In 1987, Zhengzhou abolished Jinhai District, Xinmi district and suburbs, and established Mangshan district. Liuzhai street in Jinshui District belongs to Mangshan District, Liulin Township, Jicheng Township, Yaoqiao Township and Miaoli Township in Jinhai District belong to Jinshui District.
In May 2000, the beach Temple Township was abolished and fengchanlu street was established.
In November 2005, Yaoqiao township was abolished and Longzihu street was established.
In June 2006, Jicheng town was abolished and Jicheng road street and fenghuangtai street were set up.
In November 2010, the administrative jurisdiction of Jicheng road street and Longzihu street was adjusted and Xingda road street was established. The main soil types of agricultural land in Jinshui District are fluvo aquic soil and aeolian sandy soil. Fluvo aquic soil is widely distributed, accounting for more than 90% of the land area. There are seven rivers in Jinshui District, including the Yellow River, Jialu River, Dongfengqu, Jinshui River, Xionger River, Qili River and jialuzhi river. The Yellow River flows through Madu, laixuanzhai and Sanba villages in Yaoqiao Township and into Zhongmou County, with a length of 7 km. Jialu River, Dongfengqu River, Jinshui River, Xionger River, Qili River and jialuzhi river all flow into Huaihe River. Jinshui District belongs to the Huaihe River Basin except the area within the Yellow River dyke.
The water quality of surface water and groundwater in Jinshui District is good, belonging to calcium carbonate water type, with pH value between 6-8 and low salinity, which meets the water standards for human and livestock drinking, fishery breeding and farmland irrigation. The annual runoff depth of surface water is 90 mm, and the annual runoff is 21.798 million cubic meters. The groundwater is mainly shallow water, with a burial depth of 0.5m-10m.

It is a semi-arid and semi humid continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons, long sunshine, sufficient heat and less natural precipitation. The main characteristics are: dry and windy in spring, changeable in temperature and cold; rainy in summer, with the same period of water and heat; cool and refreshing in autumn, with sufficient sunshine; dry in winter, with more wind and less snow.
