After Sui and Tang Dynasties, wumou, Yingzhou and Pingzhou were established successively, and Laiwu was replaced. In the fourth year of Chang'an (704) of Empress Wu Zetian, the county seat was moved to Wenzi village in the southeast of today's Lai city.
In 1172, the county government moved from nanwenzi village to the present site.
At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, the county Party committee and the county government were stationed in Kouzhen.
