Guangfeng District Guangfeng district is subordinate to Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, located in the northeast of Jiangxi Province, adjacent to Jiangshan City, Zhejiang Province in the East, Yushan County in the north, Guangxin district and Xinzhou District of Shangrao City in the west, and Pucheng and Chongan counties of Fujian Province in the south. The area is 62.5 km long from north to South and 45 km wide from east to west. Guangfeng was built in the Tang Dynasty, formerly known as Yongfeng. In 1732, it was renamed Guangfeng. Guangfeng district has jurisdiction over 23 township streets. Guangfeng people use Wu language, belonging to Wu Yue culture, Jiangsu and Zhejiang people.

Historical evolution
In 621, Yongfeng town was established, named after Yongfeng mountain in the north of the town. It belongs to Shangrao County of Raozhou, which is the beginning of Guangfeng system.
In the first year of Qianyuan (758), Xinzhou was set up. At the same time, Yongfeng county was set up in the southeast of Shangrao County, and Yongfeng town was governed in the southwest of Xujiang county (now Jiangshan City) of Quzhou.
In 812, Yongfeng County entered Shangrao County.
In 1074, Yongfeng county was restored to Xinzhou.
Yuan to Yuan 14 years (1277), Li Jiangzhe province Xinzhou road. In 1360, Zhu Yuanzhang took Xinzhou road by Hu Dahai and changed Guangxin prefecture to Yongfeng County, which was still under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.
In the fourth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1371), Guangxin Prefecture was transferred to Jiangxi Province because of the inconvenience of water transportation in Zhejiang Province. Because there was Yongfeng County in Ji'an Prefecture, guangyongfeng and jiyongfeng were distinguished.
In 1732, xiehaozou, the governor of Jiangxi Province, changed Yongfeng County of Guangxin prefecture to Guangfeng County, which is still in use today.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the prefectures were abolished, and the counties were directly under the province. Road was set up in the third year of the Republic of China, Guangfeng county belongs to Yuzhang road. In 1926, Dao was abolished, and the counties were still directly under the province. From 1932 to 1942, the province was divided into four administrative regions, and Guangfeng county was the sixth.
On May 5, 1949, the 49th division of the 17th army of the 5th corps of the 2nd field army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army entered Guangfeng. On May 20, the people's Government of the county was established, which is subordinate to the Shangrao special district of the Northeast Jiangxi administrative region.
In October 2000, Shangrao Prefecture was set up as a city, and Guangfeng county belongs to Shangrao City.
On January 20, 2006, Yongfeng town and Tanglong Township were abolished, and Yongfeng, Fengxi and Lulin sub district offices were established; Guangfeng Guancun Township and shehou Township were merged to establish Dongyang township. On September 21 of the same year, Lingdi township was abolished and tongbangshan town was established.
On February 16, 2015, the State Council approved the abolition of Guangfeng county and the establishment of Guangfeng District in Shangrao City, with the former administrative region of Guangfeng County as the administrative region of Guangfeng district.
In March 2015, the State Council of China issued the notice on adjusting some administrative divisions of Shangrao City, approving the abolition of Guangfeng county and the establishment of Guangfeng District of Shangrao City.

In the history of Guangfeng, there were dense forests. The ancient name of tongbangshan in Guangfeng county was forbidden mountain, which lasted for more than 300 years from 1506-1521 in Zhengde period of Ming Dynasty to 1869 in Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty. There are many kinds of trees here. There are more than 20 kinds of trees, 11 kinds of bamboos, fruit trees, flowers and wild animals and plants recorded in Guangfeng county annals in the 11th year of Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty.
Since the 1970s, the local government has taken measures to strengthen the construction of forestry bases, set up collective forest farms, and vigorously organized and promoted the afforestation activities of the whole people. The forest coverage rate has increased year by year, with 27.9% in 1979, 32% in 1981, and 46.3% in 1986. In the early 1990s, the construction of Shelterbelt Project in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the project of returning farmland to forest to control soil erosion were carried out. The forestry production in Guangfeng developed rapidly, and the forest coverage rate rose to 55.3%.

Guangfeng has coal, limestone, phosphorus, fluorite, mica, bentonite, perlite, porcelain clay (kaolin), iron, tungsten and other mineral deposits. Xiangyang phosphate mine is one of the eight largest phosphate mines in China. The reserves of high-grade black talc in Guangfeng reach more than 1 billion tons, ranking first in the world.
