Yeji District Yeji district belongs to Lu'an City, Anhui Province. Its center is 115 ° 93 ′ 15 ″ E and 31 ° 86 ′ 92 ″ n. It is located at the junction of Henan and Anhui provinces. It is adjacent to the Dabie Mountains and Jinzhai County in the south, Jianghuai plain and Huoqiu County in the North, Lu'an City and Hefei City in the East and Xinyang City in Henan Province in the West. It is known as "the gateway of Dabie Mountains" and "the west gate of Anhui". Yeji District of Lu'an City was established with the approval of the State Council on October 13, 2015, and officially established on February 28, 2016. It has jurisdiction over Yaoli Town, Hongji Town, Sanyuan Town, Sungang Township, Pinggang street and Shihe street, with a total area of 568 square kilometers and a total population of 270000.
In Yeji District, 312 national highway, Ningxi railway and Shanghai Shaanxi Expressway pass through the area, and Hefei Wuhan Expressway and Shanghai Wuhan Chengdu high speed railway are close to it. Historical evolution
Yeji is the land of ancient Polygonum state. In the spring and Autumn period, in the fifth year of Lu Wengong (622 BC), Chu destroyed Polygonum and set up the capital of Chu. Later, it was added to Jifu Town, and nearby Yeji was Jifu town.
Since Sui Dynasty, Yeji belongs to Huoqiu County.
From Hongzhi to Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, merchants surnamed Ye settled down and formed a market town, initially named yejiadian.
In the second year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, yejiadian gradually flourished, so it replaced Kaishun street as the inspection department and named it yejiaji. At the same time, kaishunxun under the jurisdiction of youshao in Shouzhou town was moved to Yeji instead of yejixun. Ye Jiaji also set up a tax card agency.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Huoqiu County had jurisdiction over 11 districts, of which the four southern district offices were located in yejiaji and 11 Baobao, namely yejiaji, zhengjiafan, gujiafan, fujiahe, kaishunjie, baitafan, balitan, dagudian, Yaoling, qijiafan, zhangjiadian, etc. The second level of baoxialu and Lin was changed to the first level of Qi.

In 1943, Yeji district was abolished and townships were established, including Yeji town.
In the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947), Huoqiu County organized eight joint defense areas. Yeji joint defense area governed one town and eight townships, namely Yeji town and yaolimiao, dagudian, yongsui, sanyuandian, Taiping temple, sunjiagang, Yaoling, liushudian, etc.
In February 1949, Huoqiu County was liberated and governed by three towns and seven districts. Yeji is a county town and Sanyuan is a county jurisdiction. From November 1952 to March 1955, 9 townships were added in Yeji District, with a total of 22 townships under the jurisdiction of 1 town. The added 9 townships were Huayuan, Xinjie, Dongying, Xialou, Hezha, Shihe, Wanfo, xiongdian, turntable, etc. In Sanyuan District, two townships, tangjiafan and zhujiafan, are added, with a total of 17 townships under its jurisdiction.
In April 1955, four townships of sunqi, Huayuan, turntable and Dongying were abolished in Yeji District, and two townships of Laodian and xinlou were added, with a total of 20 townships under the jurisdiction of one town. Sanyuan District abolished zhujiafan Township and added Lindian Township, which still governs 17 townships.
In 1956, the towns were merged, and Yeji district had jurisdiction over one town and six townships, namely Yeji town and shilonghe, xiongdian, Sungang, xinlou, Qiaodian, Wuchang, etc. Sanyuan District has jurisdiction over 10 townships, namely Sanyuan, Hongji, Yaoli, dagudian, xialuoshan, tangjiafan, Anquan, Xigao, Wangdian, wulongmiao, etc.
In January 1957, Yeji town was a county town. Sanyuan District was merged into Yeji district and adjusted to 10 townships, that is, 7 townships of Wuchang, xiongdian, shilonghe, Sungang, Anquan, Wangdian and xialuoshan were withdrawn and 10 townships of Yaoling Township were rebuilt.
In October 1958, the district township system was abolished and 17 people's communes were established. Among them, red star commune is Yeji area, and red Wei commune is Sanyuan area.
In November 1959, Hongxing commune was changed into Yeji commune and Hongwei commune into Sanyuan commune.
In July 1961, the commune became small. In November, Huoqiu County re established 11 districts, including Yeji district and Sanyuan District. Yeji town was changed from county to district management. Yeji district has six communes: Yeji (town commune), xinlou, Sungang, Liushu, Changgang and Pinggang. Sanyuan District governs Sanyuan, Wangdian, Lindian, Wulong and Xigao communes.
In November 1962, Sanyuan District was merged into Yeji District, which governs 11 communes (including Yeji town).
In April 1964, Wulong commune of Yeji district was put under the jurisdiction of Huhu district. Yeji town was reduced to district jurisdiction.
In January 1966, Xigao commune was transferred to Changji District, and daguqiao and Daqiao communes in Yaoli district were transferred to Changji district. In June, Pinggang commune in Yeji district was divided into Pinggang commune and Yaoling commune. In August, Yeji town was changed to a county.
In April 1969, Lindian, Wangdian and Sanyuan communes were merged into Sanyuan commune; Pinggang, Yaoling and Liushu communes were merged into Pinggang commune; Sungang, Changgang and xinlou communes were merged into Sungang commune.
In January 1972, Qiaodian commune was set up in Yeji district. In December, Wangdian and Liushu communes were re established in Yeji district. Yeji District governs six communes, namely Pinggang, Sanyuan, Sungang, Qiaodian, Wangdian and Liushu.
In 1983, six communes in Yeji District, including Pinggang, Sanyuan, Sungang, Qiaodian, Wangdian and Liushu, were established as townships.
In August 1984, Yeji district and Yeji town were merged into Yeji Town, which is a sub County town. Six townships, including Pinggang, Sanyuan, Sungang, Qiaodian, Wangdian and Liushu, belong to Yeji Town, and two offices, South Street and North Street, were set up.
In 1992, Qiaodian township was merged into Sungang Township, Wangdian Township into Sanyuan Township, Liushu Township and Pinggang Township into Yeji Town, and Yeji town abolished South Street and North Street offices. Yeji town also governs Sungang Township and Sanyuan township.
In 1993, Yeji town was designated as a town under separate planning in Lu'an Prefecture, with the jurisdiction of deputy county-level economic management.

In December 1998, Yeji town was the experimental area of Yeji reform and development, which was established at the county level and extended to Sungang Township and Sanyuan township. On October 13, 2015, the State Council approved the establishment of Yeji district.
In December 2015, Yeji Town, Sanyuan town and Sungang township of Huoqiu County officially established Yeji District of Lu'an City.
