Ruichang Ruichang City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province, is managed by Jiujiang City. It is located on the South Bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It borders Chaisang District in the East, De'an County and Wuning County in the south, Yangxin County in Hubei Province in the west, and Wuxue City in Hubei Province across the river in the north. Ruichang, meaning auspicious prosperity, was established in the fourth year of Jianzhong (783) of Tang Dynasty. In the third year of Shengyuan (939) of the Southern Tang Dynasty, it was promoted to a county and named Ruichang. In December 1989, with the approval of the State Council, Ruichang was removed from the county and established into a city. Ruichang is close to the South Bank of the Yangtze River, with coastline resources of 19.5 kilometers. The thalweg of the main channel of the Yangtze River is close to the south bank, all of which are two-way first-class channels. It can adapt to the operation of ships of more than 3000 tons throughout the year, and its maximum berthing capacity is 10000 tons. It is a natural deep-water port.
In 2019, Ruichang will achieve a GDP of 25.778 billion yuan and a total fiscal revenue of 4 billion yuan.
Historical evolution
The history of Ruichang development can be traced back to the Neolithic Age 5000 years ago. The excavation of liangtiansi ancient settlement site proves that at this time, the territory had been settled by the ancestors, belonging to Jingzhou and Yangzhou.
Shang and Zhou dynasties. Ruichang belonged to Wu, Yue and Chu successively. Copper mining and smelting plays an important role in the history of Chinese bronze culture. According to the archaeological excavation of the Xiafan Tongling Copper mine site, from the middle Shang Dynasty to the spring and Autumn period and Warring States period, there was a history of copper mining and smelting for nearly a thousand years, more than 3300 years ago, which corrected the original saying that "China's bronze civilization is no more than the Yangtze River".
Qin unified the whole country and divided it into 36 counties. Ruichang belonged to Jiujiang county.
In the Western Han Dynasty, Yuzhang county was divided into Huainan county and ling18 county. Ruichang County belonged to Chaisang county.
In 208, the 13th year of Jian'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty, on the eve of the Chibi war, Cheng Pu, the great general of Sun Wu, was stationed in the west corner of Chaisang (now in the area of Guilin bridge in Ruichang). There was a cluster of chiwu birds over the military camp, so it was named chiwu town. After the victory in the battle of Chibi, Pu returned to Chaisang and settled in chiwu town. The spring was in harmony, and the clouds and things in the sky were beautiful. He thought it was auspicious. He was also called Ruichang town. Later, he built the county because of its name.
In the first year of Wu Huangwu (222), Sun Quan set up Wuchang county and Chaisang county.
In the Western Jin Dynasty, ten counties of ceyang and Jingzhou were set up as Jiangzhou, Xunyang County of Lujiang and Chaisang County of Wuchang were set up as Xunyang County, which was subordinate to Jiangzhou; in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Xunyang county and Xunyang county were successively transferred from Jiangbei to Chaisang County, and Xunyang county was transferred to Chaisang county.
During the song and Qi dynasties, Ruichang still belonged to Chaisang County, Xunyang County, Jiangzhou. In the second year of Liang Taiqing (548), Tsai Sang was converted to establish Runan County. In Chen Dynasty, Xunyang County led Tsai sang and Runan counties. Ruichang was suspected to belong to Runan County.
In the early Sui Dynasty, Xunyang county was set up in abandoned Chaisang county and Runan County, then Xunyang county was changed to Pengli County, then Pengli county was changed to Pengcheng County, and then changed its name to Feicheng county. Therefore, Ruichang belonged to Xunyang county first, then Pengli County, and then Feicheng county.
In the early Tang Dynasty, fujiujiang county was Jiangzhou, which was divided into Xunyang county and Xunyang county.
In the Five Dynasties, Ruichang belonged to Yangwu at the beginning, Jiangzhou Xunyang County under the jurisdiction of the southern army, and later to the Southern Tang Dynasty. Shengyuan three years (939), shengchiwuchang for Ruichang County, Guilin bridge governance.
Song and Yuan Dynasties. At the beginning of the Northern Song Dynasty, Ruichang was divided into Luzhou, which belonged to Jiangnan Road. Later, it was divided into east-west road and Jiangnan East Road. In 1132, Jiangzhou was changed to Jiangnan West Road, and Ruichang was the county under its jurisdiction. In 1203, Ruichang County moved to Xucheng town.
In the Yuan Dynasty, Ruichang was under the jurisdiction of Jiangzhou Road, a province on the West Bank of the Yangtze River. It was divided into six counties: hexingguo (now hubeiyang new county), Dehua, De'an, Hukou and Pengze. Later, it was divided into Xingguo and Wuchang Yining Prefecture, and Ruichang became the frontier. From 1352 to 1361, Ruichang was once occupied by Xu Shouhui and Chen Youliang, the leaders of the red scarf army.
At the beginning of Ming Dynasty, Ruichang belonged to Jiujiang Prefecture of Jiujiang Road; in the first year of Yongle (1403), the county set aside one and two military households, which belonged to Nanchang and Jiujiang.
In the early summer of the second year of Shunzhi (1645) of the Qing Dynasty, Li Zicheng, the king of Chuang, was pursued by the Qing army and entered Ruichang from Dehua. He walked through Luocheng mountain, lost countless people, horses and materials, and retreated to Hubei Province. On the eighth day of the first month of the third year of Xianfeng (1853), the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom army went down the Yangtze River and broke Ruichang and went to Chaohu Lake. The Qing army was stationed at the camp. In March of the fourth year of Xianfeng (1854), Taiping Army changed Hukou into Jiujiang County, with Jiujiang County as its main base Ruichang became a guerrilla area of the Taiping army. After the Taiping army was defeated, the Qing Dynasty restored the system. In August 1911, Ma Yubao, the commander of the 53rd bid of the Qing army in Jiujiang, responded to the Wuchang Uprising, and Ruichang was restored immediately.
In 1914, Jiangxi Province was divided into four roads, and Ruichang County belonged to Xunyang road.
In October 1926, more than 20000 people from the seventh army of Li Zongren, the Northern Expedition army of the National Revolutionary Army, fought fiercely with sun Chuanfang, the northern warlord, near nanwangjiapu, Ruichang. Liu Fengge and most of the eastern part of Bihua were annihilated. The fourth independent division of the Northern Expedition army occupied Ruichang and established the national government. Ruichang county is located in Jiangxi Province.
In 1932, Jiangxi Province was divided into 13 administrative regions, and Ruichang was the third.
On August 8, 1938, the Japanese aggressors jointly attacked Ruichang by sea, land and air. On August 24, Ruichang county was occupied. By October, except for Hongyi, honger, Leyuan, Xuyuan and other townships with inconvenient transportation, all other townships were occupied. The county government fled to Zaoyuan village, Wuning county.
On August 25, 1945, Ruichang county government moved from Wuning to juecheng. Ruichang county is the ninth administrative region of Jiangxi Province.
On May 18, 1949, the 43rd army of the 15th corps of the fourth field army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army crossed the Yangtze River from Guangji County, Hubei Province, and Ruichang announced its liberation. In mid June, more than 70 cadres from the northeast to the South settled in Ruichang and established the CPC Ruichang County Committee and the county people's government, subordinate to the Jiujiang special area.
In 1983, Jiujiang district was abolished and Jiujiang City was set up to implement the new system of city governing county.
In December 1989, the State Council approved the establishment of Ruichang as a county-level city under the jurisdiction of the province, which is managed by Jiujiang City.

The terrain of Ruichang city is high in the middle and low in the periphery, high in the southwest and low in the northeast. Qingshan and dadeshan, which are branches of Mufu mountains, stand in the middle, and Qinshan, Meishan, Dengjiashan and miaomushan form the south, the middle and the north, which are called Ruichang three lanes. The landform is mainly composed of hills and low mountains, with erosion accumulation landform. The altitude ranges from 11 m to 923.1 m, of which 37% are low mountains above 500 m, 46% are hills between 100 m and 500 m, 12.3% are plains below 100 m, and 4.7% are water surface.
