climate
Pengze County is located in the transition zone of the middle subtropical zone, with abundant rainfall, four distinct seasons, sufficient light and short frost period, which is suitable for the normal growth of subtropical crops.
In the early stage of spring (March to May), it is cold and rainy, but still affected by the strong cold air in the north. In the late spring, the wind increased greatly in summer, and it collided with the strong cold air in the north, resulting in continuous rain. It is said that "continuous rain in spring" and "no clear days in spring", but the temperature gradually increased.
In early summer (June to August), the wind direction is in the transitional season, the cold and warm air is agitated, and the weather is changeable. This period is the plum rain season. When the flood season comes, the rainstorm is concentrated, and the flood is very easy to occur. If the water level of the Yangtze River is too high, it is easy to cause external flood and internal waterlogging, flash flood, dike gap, and landslide. 1998 is a year of extra heavy rainfall since Pengze recorded. The water level of the Yangtze River has reached the highest level in a century. Every year in midsummer, the Pacific subtropical high controls, often blows southerly wind, the weather is sunny, the temperature increases, the sunshine is strong, and sometimes there are summer droughts.
After the summer heat in autumn (from September to November), the summer monsoon weakens and the temperature is still high, commonly known as "autumn tiger". The middle of September is the transition period of summer wind and winter wind. The cold air from the North invades southward, which makes the temperature drop and often leads to cold dew wind. In the later stage, the climate is stable, and it is easy to form cloud and rain. The temperature is moderate, the air is crisp in autumn, and the weather of "little spring" appears, but it is not long, that is, it turns into winter.
In winter (December to February), affected by the cold air in the north, strong northerly wind blows fiercely, with low temperature, less rain and low humidity. When the cold air goes southward, it is often accompanied by a northerly gale of magnitude 8, freezing rain and snow, and the temperature drops significantly. There is a proverb: "19, 29, frost wind stabs the hand, 39, 49, freezing pigs and dogs", also said: "cold, cold, dripping into a ball.". From the middle of January to the middle of February, it is the coldest season in the whole year. Heavy snow and freezing rain often occur in this period.
