Zhao'an County Zhao'an county is a county under the jurisdiction of Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. It is located in the south of Fujian Province and at the junction of Fujian and Guangdong. It is adjacent to the intersection of the East China Sea and the South China Sea in the south, Raoping County in Guangdong Province in the west, Pinghe County in the north, Yunxiao County and Dongshan County in the East, Raoping County and Nan'ao County in the West.
The land area of Zhao'an county is 1293.6 square kilometers, including 100 square kilometers of planning area and 17.5 square kilometers of built-up area, 88 kilometers of coastline and 273 square kilometers of sea area.
Zhaoan County has 16 townships (districts), 7 state-owned agricultural and forestry farms, 1 provincial industrial park and 1 Jindu industrial concentration area (marine biological Industrial Park) under construction, 231 villages (communities), with a population of 613000, of which the agricultural population accounts for more than 80%.
Zhaoan County is the "hometown of calligraphy and painting", "hometown of Chinese folk culture and art (painting)," hometown of Chinese green plum ", the former Central Soviet area county, the famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Fujian and the important ancestral home of Taiwan compatriots.

Historical evolution
Zhao'an belonged to Nanhai County in Qin Dynasty, which was the beginning of being included in the central territory. In the sixth year of Yuanding in the Western Han Dynasty (111 BC), it belonged to Jieyang County, Nanhai county. In the sixth year of Xianhe in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (331), Dongguan county was set up in the east of Nanhai county. In the ninth year of Yixi (413), Yian county was set up by Dongguan County, and Suian county was set up by Jieyang county.
In 592, sui'an county was merged into Longxi County, and the imperial edict belonged to Longxi County.
In the second year of chuigong (686) of Tang Dynasty, the southern border of Longxi County was analyzed, so sui'an was located in Zhangzhou, and Zhangpu County and Huaien county were established, and Zhao'an was under the jurisdiction of Zhangzhou Huaien county. In the 29th year of Kaiyuan (741) of Tang Dynasty, Huaien county was abolished and the land was transferred to Zhangpu County, so Zhaoan belonged to Zhangpu County of Zhangzhou.
It was called Nanzhao court in Song Dynasty.
In the Yuan Dynasty, Nanzhao was set up as a garrison house.
In 1530, the second capital, the third capital, the fourth capital and the fifth capital were separated from Zhangpu County to build Zhaoan County, which was located in Nanzhao (town) and subordinate to Zhangzhou Prefecture.
In the period of the Republic of China, Zhao'an County belonged to Fujian west road, tingzhang Road, the province directly, and the sixth and fifth administrative supervision area of the province successively.
After the liberation of Zhao'an in December 1949, it successively belonged to the sixth administrative supervision district, Longxi District, Longxi special district and Longxi district;
Since May 1985, it is a prefecture level Zhangzhou city.
On March 6, 2019, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of finance, the Ministry of culture and tourism, and the State Administration of cultural relics announced the list of counties for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics (the first batch).

In 1799, it was divided into 4 cities, 22 maps, 109bao, 1 county, 4 passes and 583 villages. During the period of Xuantong in the late Qing Dynasty, it was divided into 15 autonomous regions, under which Bao and Jia were set up. In the early years of the Republic of China, the old system was still in use. After several changes, by 1945, the whole county was withdrawn and divided into 13 townships, namely Zhongshan town, Zunhua Town, Meizhong Town, Donghu Town, Bihu Town, Sizheng Town, Baiyang Town, Jingxi Town, Pingge Town, guanpo Town, Xiuzhuan Town, Qihu town and Meilin Town, with 162 baos and 2257 Jias under its jurisdiction.
At the beginning of the Republic of China, it belonged to Xilu Road (tingzhang Road).
During the Anti Japanese War, it was occupied from July 20, 1945 to August 15, 1945 and then recovered.
In January 1949, Meilin township was divided into two townships, Meizhou and Zhugang. So far, the county has 11 townships and 3 towns.
Liberated on December 12, 1949, it belongs to Longxi district (region) and Zhangzhou city.
In 1950, the county was divided into 7 districts, 89 townships and 8 neighborhood committees. In 1950, Zhao'an abolished the Baojia system of villages and towns in the Republic of China. The county was divided into Chengguan District and the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth districts. Chengguan District had eight administrative streets. The other six districts have 89 townships. In February 1959, there were seven people's communes in Chengguan, Sidu, Qiaodong, Xitan, Taiping, guanpi and Xiuzhuan, and four farms in Jianshe, Hongxing, Jinxing and Xishan. In October 1984, the county's administrative system was divided into two towns, 10 townships, 214 administrative villages and 8 administrative streets. By 1996, the county had nine towns of Nanzhao, Sidu, Qiaodong, Meiling, Shenqiao, Taiping, Xiage, guanpi and Xiuzhuan; five townships of Xitan, Baiyang, Jianshe, Hongxing and Jinxing; five farms of Jianshe, Hongxing, Jinxing and Xishan Meizhou; and two forest farms of lingxiaxi and Hunei.
In April 1951, the whole county was divided into eight districts. In February 1952, it was re established into nine districts, with jurisdiction over 89 townships. In 1954, 118 townships were added.
In January 1955, nine districts were adjusted to seven.
In May 1956, Chengguan and Qiaodong became a town. There is one town and four districts in the county, which governs 57 townships. In May 1958, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged. The county is divided into Chengguan town and 25 townships, including Qiaodong, Hanying, Xiahe, Sidu, Meizhou, Gangkou, Xinan, Shangying, Baishi, Xitan, Meiying, Taiping, Dabu, Jinxi, Yuanzhong, Shuishui, Xiaguan, Shangguan, Xiage, Caixin, Longshi, Chenlong, puping, Qingshan and houling.
In September 1958, the people's commune was established with the integration of government and society. Eight communes including satellite, Taiyangsheng, Dongfanghong, Hongqi, Tuanjie, Xingfu, Shangshang and Heping, and three farms including Jianshe, Hongxing and Jinxing were established.
In January 1959, Xingfu commune was merged into Hongqi commune, and there were 7 communes and 3 farms in the county. In February of the same year, the commune was renamed after the residence, and Shenqiao commune was added. There were 8 communes and 118 production teams in the county.
In May 1961, the "Regulations on the work of rural people's communes" was implemented. The county was divided into 7 districts, 26 communes and 4 farms.
In April 1964, the county was divided into eight communes and four farms. In 1970, the production brigade of some communes was adjusted and returned to the farm.
In 1971, there were 8 communes in Chengguan, Qiaodong, Sidu, Shenqiao, Xitan, Taiping, guanpi and Xiuzhuan, and 3 farms in Jianshe, Hongxing and Jinxing.
In January 1978, Xiahe and other 15 brigades were set up from Qiaodong commune (renamed Meiling commune in 1982).
In 1980, Chengguan commune was changed into Chengguan town. In December 1981, Chengguan town was renamed Nanzhao Town. In October 1984, the government and society were separated. The county has jurisdiction over Nanzhao and Sidu towns and 10 townships of Meiling, Qiaodong, Shenqiao, Xitan, Taiping, guanpi, Xiuzhuan, Jianshe, Hongxing and Jinxing, as well as 214 villages and 8 neighborhood committees. In June 1987, nine villages, such as Wutong, were designated from guanpi township to add Xiage township. The county has jurisdiction over 2 towns and 11 townships.
In 1990, Zhao'an County governed 2 towns (Nanzhao, Sidu) and 11 townships (Qiaodong, Meiling, Shenqiao, Xitan, Taiping, guanpi, Xiage, Xiuzhuan, Jianshe, Hongxing and Jinxing). There are 9 neighborhood committees and 218 villages.
In 1999, Zhaoan County governed 9 towns and 5 townships: Nanzhao Town, Sidu Town, Qiaodong Town, Meiling Town, Shenqiao Town, Taiping Town, Xiage Town, guanpi Town, Xiuzhuan Town, Xitan Town, Baiyang Town, Jianshe Town, Hongxing town and Jinxing town.
In 2000, Meizhou overseas Chinese farm in Zhaoan County was restructured and Meizhou township was established. Meizhou Township governs Meiqiao neighborhood committee and Meizhou, Meixi, Meidong, Meixi, Meinan, meibei and Meishan villages in the former Sidu town. Meizhou Township People's government is stationed in Meizhou village. After the adjustment, Zhaoan County has jurisdiction over 9 towns and 6 townships. In May 2000, seven administrative villages of Meizhou, Meidong, Meixi, meibei, Meixi, Meishan and Meizhou overseas Chinese farm were separated from Sidu Town, and Meizhou township was established. With the development of economy, the area of Nanzhao Town, as a county, has been gradually expanded, and the community has increased accordingly. In May 1999, Wenfeng Street neighborhood committee and Guangliang Street neighborhood committee were added; in August 2000, Xiufeng Street neighborhood committee was added.
In 2002, the 12 neighborhood committees under the jurisdiction of Nanzhao Town were renamed community residents committees.
Since 2001, Zhaoan County has carried out demarcation work at township (town) level. By 2004, a total of 34 administrative boundaries with a total length of 342.37 km have been determined.
In 2007, the county was divided into 9 towns (Nanzhao Town, Shenqiao Town, Qiaodong Town, Meiling Town, Sidu Town, Taiping Town, Xiage Town, guanpi town and Xiuzhuan town); 6 townships (Xitan Township, Baiyang Township, Jianshe Township, Hongxing Township, Jinxing Township and Meizhou township); 5 farms (Xishan, Jinxing, Hongxing, Jianshe and Meizhou); 2 forest farms (Jianshe, lingxiaxi), 1 Industrial Park and 1 farm It has 217 administrative villages and 14 communities.
In January 2016, Xitan township was abolished and Xitan town was established in Zhao'an county
