Xiuyu District Xiuyu district (formerly Putian County, Xinghua prefecture) is located in the middle of the southeast coast of Fujian Province, across the sea from Taiwan, only 72 nautical miles away from Taichung port. It was established in February 2002 with the approval of the State Council.
Xiuyu district is subordinate to Putian City. The people's Government of Xiuyu district is located in Hushi Town, with jurisdiction over 11 towns, 1 farm and 1 Administration Bureau. The land area is 390 square kilometers, and the sea area is 4514.75 square kilometers. Putian dialect is popular in Putian dialect.
history
Before the Qing Dynasty
In the second year of Chen Guangda (568) of the Southern Dynasty, Putian County was located in the east of Nan'an county. The county government was in yanlingli, and it was soon abolished. The land was still Nan'an county. In the ninth year of kaihuang of Sui Dynasty (589), Pingchen changed Fengzhou into Quanzhou (the state governance is still in today's Fuzhou), and restored Putian County. In the following year, Quanzhou was changed into minzhou. In the third year of Daye (607), minzhou was abandoned and minzhou was changed into Jian'an County, leading Min County, Jian'an County, Nan'an county and Youxi County. Putian County was abolished and the land was returned to Nan'an county. In the 12th year of Daye (616), Chen Mai led the QUANNAN Bingma town in Putian, and in the 2nd year of Wude in Tang Dynasty (619), Chen served as the magistrate of Putian. In the fifth year of Wude in Tang Dynasty (622), the central part of Fujian Province was pacified. Nanan county was set up as Fengzhou (now Quanzhou), Putian County was restored as Fengzhou. In the second year of Shengli (699), Fengzhou was changed into wurongzhou (now Quanzhou). In the West of Putian, Qingyuan County (later Xianyou County) was set up. Putian and Qingyuan counties belong to wurongzhou. In the second year of Jingyun (711), wurongzhou was renamed Quanzhou; in the first year of Tianbao (742), it was renamed Qingyuan County, which belonged to the south of the Yangtze River. Soon after, it was renamed Changle County, and Putian County's membership remained unchanged. (933) in the fourth year of Changxing in the later Tang Dynasty, Yanjun, the second son of Wang Shenzhi, became emperor in Fuzhou. His country was Fujian, which belonged to Putian County. In the fifth year of Fujian Yonglong in the Five Dynasties (943), Yan Zheng, the younger brother of Yan Jun, became emperor in Jianzhou. His name was Yin, and Putian County was his subordinate. After the Southern Tang Dynasty exterminated Fujian, Quanzhou and Zhangzhou were successively under the control of Chen Hongjin, and Putian County belonged to Quanzhou. In 949, Quanzhou was renamed Qingyuan army, and Putian County belonged to Qingyuan army. In the second year of Qiande of Song Dynasty (964), Qingyuan army was changed into Pinghai Navy, which belonged to Putian County. In the fourth year of Taiping's rejuvenation of the state (979), 14 Li under the jurisdiction of Putian, Xianyou, Yongtai and Fuqing counties were analyzed. Xinghua County was set up, and the county government was set up in Youyang. At the same time, the Taiping army was built to lead it. The military is in Xinghua County. In 980, Taiping army was changed into Xinghua army, and Putian, Xianyou and Fuqing counties were subordinate to Xinghua Army (Fuqing county was under the jurisdiction of Fuzhou). In 983, the military administration of Xinghua moved from Xinghua County to Putian County, still governing Putian, Xianyou and Xinghua. And built a military city in Putian. In 1277, duanzong of Southern Song Dynasty promoted Xinghua army to Xing'an Prefecture, and Putian County was subordinate to Xing'an Prefecture. In October of the same year, the yuan army occupied Putian, and the following year changed Xing'an prefecture to Xinghua Road. Putian County is subordinate to Xinghua Road. In 1279, Xinghua Road was under the jurisdiction of Zhongshu province of China Construction Bank, and Putian County was under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province. Putian urban area and its affiliated areas are divided into four divisions, namely, the recording division and the county division. Zhizheng 20 years (1360), home Xinghua Road sub Province, Putian County. In the second year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1369), Xinghua government was set up by changing the Xinghua Road, which was subordinate to the Department of political envoys of Chengxuan County in Fujian Province and abolished the Department of recording affairs. It was merged into Putian County with four compartments, and Xinghua Wei and pinghaiwei were also set up. In the 13th year of Zhengtong (1448), Xinghua County was abolished, and liugeli of Wuhua and Changle townships was merged into guangyeli, which was assigned to Putian County. The Ming system was still in the Qing Dynasty, and Xinghua and Pinghai were abandoned. Until the third year of Xuantong (1911), the organizational system of Putian County remained unchanged.
the Republic of China era
In 1913, the government system was abolished, and three levels of local government were set up in Fujian. The province is divided into East Road, West Road, South Road and North Road, Putian County is south road. In June of the Republic of China, the East, West, South and North roads were changed into minhai, tingzhang, Xiamen and Jian'an roads respectively, and Putian County was subordinate to Xiamen road.
In the 15th year of the Republic of China, Putian County was directly under the jurisdiction of Fujian provincial government. On November 23, the 19th Route Army of the National Revolutionary Army established the people's revolutionary government of the people's Republic of China in Fujian, which designated Fujian as four provinces of minhai, minshang, Quanhai and Longzhang, and two special cities of Fuzhou and Xiamen. The four provinces are called minhai, Yanjian, Xingquan and Longting. Putian County is subordinate to Xingquan province. In January of the Republic of China, the "Fujian coup" of the 19th route army failed, and the Nanjing Government of the Kuomintang resumed its rule. Fujian Province was divided into 10 administrative supervision districts. From then on to the 38th year of the Republic of China, Putian County was subordinate to the fourth administrative supervision district.
After liberation
Putian County was liberated on August 21, 1949. The people's Republic of China was founded on October 1, 1949. Fujian Province is divided into eight special districts and two cities, Fuzhou and Xiamen. Putian County set up the people's government, which is subordinate to the fifth Office of administrative inspector of Fujian Province (in Quanzhou). Since April 1950, the fifth Office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision has been renamed "Jinjiang Office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision" and "Jinjiang District Office of the commissioner" (hereinafter referred to as Jinjiang special office), and Putian County has no change in its membership. In December 1955, Putian County People's government was renamed Putian County People's Committee, which is still subordinate to Jinjiang special office. During the "Cultural Revolution" in July 1967, Putian County military control committee (hereinafter referred to as the military control committee) was established, which was subordinate to the military control committee of Jinjiang special region.
In September 1968, the "military control commission" was abolished and the Putian County Revolutionary Committee was established, which was subordinate to the Jinjiang District Revolutionary Committee. On February 17, 1970, with the approval of the State Council, Putian County was transferred from Jinjiang District to Minhou district. On April 13, 1971, Minhou district was changed into Putian district; on June 1, 1971, Putian district was changed into Putian district. Putian County belongs to Putian area.
In January 1979, Putian regional Revolutionary Committee was renamed Putian regional administrative office; in December 1980, Putian County Revolutionary Committee was renamed Putian County People's government.
In May 1983, Putian district administrative office was abolished, and Putian City (a city under the jurisdiction of the province) was established in September, under the jurisdiction of Putian County. On February 1, 2002, the State Council approved the abolition of Putian County and the establishment of Licheng District and Xiuyu District of Putian City. The nine towns of Hushi, Dongzhuang, Zhongmen, Dongpu, Meizhou, Dongqiao, Daitou, Pinghai, Nanri and two townships of Shanting and Yuetang in Putian County were designated as Xiuyu District, and the people's Government of the district was stationed in Hushi town.

By 2018, the region has 11 towns, 1 farm and 1 administration: Hushi Town, Dongzhuang Town, ZHONGMEN Town, Dongpu town, Dongqiao Town, Daitou Town, Pinghai Town, Nanri Town, Meizhou Town, Shanting Town, Yuetang Town, qianqin farm and Houhai administration. Xiuyu District People's government is located in wathi town.

Xiuyu District of Putian City is located on the West Bank of Taiwan Strait, between Fuzhou and Xiamen, and between Hong Kong and Shanghai. It is 72 nautical miles away from Taichung port of Taiwan in the East, 132 nautical miles away from Mawei Port of Fuzhou in the north, 510 nautical miles away from Shanghai port, 96 nautical miles away from Xiamen port in the south, and 397 nautical miles away from Hong Kong. It is a subtropical marine climate with pleasant climate and superior natural conditions.

Gas and electricity resources
Xiuyu district has formed an energy base with Fujian liquefied natural gas (LNG) project as the leader and the development of thermal power, gas power and wind power. The overall LNG project started construction on April 15, 2005 and put into commercial operation in February 2009. The first phase investment of the project is 30 billion yuan, and the gas supply scale is 2.6 million tons / year. Nanri wind power, with an investment of 84 million yuan in the first phase, has built 11 × 850 kW wind turbines with an installed capacity of 9350 kW. The second phase, with an investment of 66 million yuan, has built 8 × 850 kW wind turbines and has been put into operation for power generation. Meizhouwan thermal power plant, with an installed capacity of 2 × 362000 kW, has been fully put into operation for grid connected power generation; the site of the gas-fired power plant with an investment of 6.5 billion yuan is being leveled, and the main project will start in 2006.

Xiuyu District, with a total area of 14.85 km2 and an annual output of about 100000 tons of raw salt, is the main salt producing area in Fujian Province. Xiuyu district has three shallow sea sand mining areas, covering an area of 295.21 hectares, of which the proven reserves of Nanri shallow sea sand mine are 5.18 million m3.
