Huangshan District Huangshan District is located in the south of Anhui Province, embracing the whole Huangshan Scenic Area, and the central city is located in the north of the scenic area. Huangshan District, formerly known as Taiping County, was upgraded to Huangshan City (county) in 1983. In 1987, Huangshan City (prefecture) was established in Huizhou. Huangshan City (county) retained its full name of administrative division and became Huangshan City (jurisdiction) Huangshan District. Huangshan District is closely related to Huangshan. The north gate of Huangshan scenic spot is located in gengcheng Town, the east gate is located in Tanjiaqiao Town, the south gate is located in Tangkou Town, and the west gate is located in Jiaocun town. Historical evolution
Huangshan District is under the jurisdiction of Kuaiji County, Zhangjun county and Guangling County in Qin and Han Dynasties.
During the Jin and southern and Northern Dynasties, it belonged to Xin'an County of Yangzhou.
In Sui and Tang Dynasties, it belonged to Shezhou and Jiangnan Road. In the fourth year of Tianbao (745), Taiping County was established as Xuancheng County; in the second year of Yongtai (766), Taiping County was abolished and merged into Jing County.

In December 1983, Taiping County was abolished and Huangshan City at the county level was established. In November 1987, Tunxi city and Huangshan City were abolished and Huangshan City (prefecture level) was established. Huangshan District of Huangshan City was established, with the former Huangshan City as its administrative region.

River system
The rivers in Huangshan District belong to Qiantang River system and Yangtze River system. Except for Fuxi and Ruanxi on the southern slope of Huangshan Mountain, other rivers, such as Xiangxi, machuan, Qingxi, Yangxi, Shuxi, Zhuxi and Lingyang, flow into Taiping Lake or Qingyi River and then into the Yangtze River.
