Herba Sarcandrae

Perennial herbs. The rhizome is dark brown with a few yellow fibrous roots. Stem erect, solitary or clustered, up to 70 cm, 1-2 mm in diameter, grayish green, 6-20 ribs, rough, with a row of verrucous protuberances; stomatal line in ditch 1-4 rows; branches below the middle, often with 2-5 branchlets. The impeller is green, degenerated and connected into a tubular sheath, funnel-shaped and ribbed; the sheath mouth splits into sharp triangular teeth with short teeth, the outer central part and base are dark brown, and the apex and margin gradually become membranous, often falling off. The sporangium is compact, oblong, sessile, about 0.5-2 cm long. It has a small tip and is terminal. The spores are of the same type, with two filamentous elastase filaments. They are crisscross in shape. They wrap around the spores and spring open in case of water for reproduction.

Born on roadsides, streams and sandy land. It is distributed in southwest, East China, South China, Hubei, Hunan, Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Hebei, Liaoning and other places.

Preparation and usage: one Decoction: 1 large liang of Herba Sarcandrae, add 700 ml water, soak for half an hour, boil for 5-8 minutes, 200-300 ml each time, take 2-3 times a day.
