Oxalis compacta
Perennial herbs, 20-40 cm high. Underground rhizome slender, sparsely scaly. Stem erect, or inclined upward, pilose, with acid juice when broken. Leaves membranous, alternate, petioles long, slender, palmately compound; leaflets 3, obcordate, apex obtuse, with obvious concave head, base broadly cuneate, entire, hairy or glabrous below, without petioles, leaves open at day and close at night. In spring and summer, pedicels are drawn from branches and leaf axils, with 1-4 flowers at the end of pedicels, slightly umbelliform; calyx is 5-lobed; petals are 5, yellow and oval; stamens are 10, and the base of filaments is connected; ovary is 5-locular, with 5 Styles and stigma. The capsule is nearly cylindrical in shape. At maturity, the petals of the capsule are dehiscent, retrovolved, and present on the axis. The peduncle is also retrovolved downward, forming an acute angle with the fruit, and elastic when dehiscing. The seeds are small, ovate, slightly flat and brown.
