[plant morphology] 1. Xiaozheshu, also known as nuzheshu (materia medica), Kuma (Yibu Fangwu lueji), Kuma branch (Gangmu), Yuzhi (Yungu Zaji), Gouji, jiucenpi, pseudolitchi, houhuanxi, shanlitchi, huangjinci, niaobutai, mousei, fantuan and yemeizi.
Evergreen erect or climbing shrubs, 2-4 m high. The root bark is soft and yellow. Branches grayish brown, smooth, lenticels scattered, with thick, erect or slightly curved spines, 5-10 mm long. Single leaf alternate, leathery, obovate lanceolate, elliptic or oblong, 4-9 cm long, 1.5-2.8 cm wide, apex obtuse or acuminate, base cuneate, entire, glabrous on both sides; petiole 5-10 mm long, flowers unisexual, dioecious; head solitary or paired, short petiole, pilose: male inflorescence 6 mm in diameter, perianth segments 3-5, cuneate, unequal, pilose; female Inflorescence globose, enlarged when bearing, about 1.8 cm in diameter, perianth segments 4, apex thick, pubescent. Figs globose, fleshy, up to 5 cm in diameter, hairy, achenes enclosed in fleshy perianth and bracts. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit period is from September to October.
It grows on hillsides, streams and shrubs. Distributed in Hunan, Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places.
