Rattan shrub, 1-2m high. Stem cylindrical, usually erect, yellowish brown, with many lenticels. Leaves alternate, lanceolate or oblong lanceolate, 2.5-8 cm long and 1.5-3.5 cm wide, apex obtuse or rounded, base cuneate, upper margin coarsely serrate, lateral veins more than 10-15 pairs; petiole about 6-8 mm long. Short raceme axillary, 12 mm long; pedicel 2-3 mm long; flowers small; sepals 5, calyx lobes lanceolate; corolla 5; stamens inserted at base of petals. The berry is oblate, yellow red at maturity, with one seed inside.
