Litchi root

(Ben Cao Tu Jing)

[source] it is the root of litchi, which belongs to Sapindus family. See "litchi" for plant morphology.

[function indications] it is used to treat stomach cold, distending pain, hernia, spermatorrhea and laryngopathy.

[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 1-2 Liang.

[selection] ① for stomach cold and distending pain: fresh lychee root 1 to 2 liang. Take it in water. (Fujian Chinese herbal medicine)

② Cure hernia: fresh litchi root two Liang. Take brown sugar before meals. (Fujian Chinese herbal medicine)

③ Treatment of spermatorrhea for a long time, muscle wasting, limb weakness, joint pain and swelling: two litchi tree roots, a small pig belly. Two bowls of water, stew into eight, remove the dregs, eat small stomach and drink soup. (Quanzhou materia medica)

④ Treatment of throat pain: litchi flowers and roots, a total of 12 points. Take three liters of water, boil to remove dross, contain it, and swallow it carefully. (collected prescriptions on the sea)

Five treatment of blood avalanche: 30 grams of litchi root, fried in wine, for two or three days.
