[plant morphology] Litsea rotundifolia, also known as haggard ginger.
Shrubs or small trees, 2-5M high. Branchlets densely yellow hirsute, but soon glabrescent. Leaves subcleathery, 4-5 whorls; lanceolate or oblanceolate oblong, 10-22 cm long, 2-6 cm wide, apex acuminate, base obtuse or suborbicular, glabrous above, only midrib pubescent at the beginning, pale gray or yellowish brown below, yellow pilose; petiole 2-6 mm long, densely pilose. Umbels 2-10, densely distributed in the upper part of branchlets; total pedicel 1-2 cm long, covered with yellowish brown pilose; involucre 4-7, covered with grayish brown silky hair, with 7-8 flowers in each involucre; perianth 4, lanceolate; stamens 9, long, prominent, villous filaments. Fruit ovate, about 1 cm long, apically pointed. The flowering period is from April to November. The fruit period is from November to January next year.
