[plant morphology] daylily

Annual herb with foul odor. Stems much branched, up to 1 m, densely covered with sticky glandular hairs. The leaves are palmately compound, alternate; petiole 3-7 cm long; leaflets 5, obovate or rhomboid obovate, 2.5-5 cm long, 1-2 cm wide, apex acute or obtuse, base cuneate, entire or denticulate, glabrous on top, hairy on veins below. Inflorescence terminal; flowers pedunculate, base with leaflike bracts 3; sepals 4, ovate, apex acute; petals 4, obovate, ca. 1 cm long, ca. 5 mm wide, clawed, white or purplish; stamens 6, lower part of filaments attached to pistil ovary stalk; pistil ovary has long stalk, protruding above petals, 1-locular, style short, stigma flat capitate. Capsule long angular, 5-10 cm long, apex with persistent stigma. Seeds reniform, ca. 1 mm wide, dark brown, middle invaginated, surface with protuberant wrinkled membrane. The flowering period is from May to August. The fruit period is from June to September.

Grow in the wasteland, or grow in the garden. Distributed in Hebei, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Guangxi, Taiwan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangdong and other places.
