[plant morphology] Alpinia kaempferi
Perennial herbs, 1-2 m high. Rhizome transverse, surface dark brown, nodules obvious. Stem stiff; subcylindrite, upper part slightly flat. Leaves alternate, 2-row, linear lanceolate, 40 cm long, 1.5-2.5 cm wide, sparsely coarsely serrate; sheaths very long, part of them folded inward from midvein and connate. Panicle terminal, scattered, few and short branches; petiole about 1 cm long, slightly curved; bracts ovate, apex caudate acute; perianth bluish purple or green white, lobes 6, 2-whorled, oblong, 6-10 mm long, 2 mm wide; stamens 6, filaments. Anthers very thick, linear, dark brown, 2-lobed; ovary 3-locular, suborbicular, style linear, stigma inconspicuously 3-lobed. Berries ovoid, bluish purple, smooth; seeds black. The flowering period is from June to August. The fruit period is from July to September.
It grows in wild weeds. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Taiwan and other places.
