Runzhou District, located in the southwest of Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, is the main urban area and administrative center of Zhenjiang, a famous historical and cultural city in China. Runzhou district is located at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal. It is located in the core area of the Yangtze River Delta with the most active economy in China. It is the South "bridgehead" of Runyang Yangtze River Bridge. Beijing Shanghai railway, Beijing Shanghai high speed railway, Zhenjiang station of Shanghai Nanjing urban railway and Zhenjiang entrance and exit of Shanghai Nanjing Expressway and Yang Li expressway are all in the district.
Runzhou is the epitome of "mountain and water Zhenjiang", "ecological Zhenjiang" and "Humanistic Zhenjiang". Historical evolution
Runzhou is the ancient name of Zhenjiang. It was established in the 15th year of kaihuang of Sui Dynasty (595 A.D.), which is the beginning of its administrative establishment. Before that, Runzhou area was also known as Zhufang, Guyang, Dantu, Jingkou, etc. After the liberation of Zhenjiang on April 23, 1949, Zhenjiang suburban district people's government was established in June, with jurisdiction over YONGGU, Linyin and Jiaodong townships. Later, it was set up as Zhenjiang suburban district office, Zhenjiang suburban office, Zhenjiang suburban people's government, etc., and its jurisdiction was adjusted many times. In September 1983, with the merger of Zhenjiang Prefecture and city and the change of system, the suburbs of Zhenjiang City and Jianbi district were merged to establish the suburbs with county-level system.
In October 1984, the suburban people's Government of Zhenjiang city changed its name to Runzhou District People's Government of Zhenjiang city. With the name of Guanzhou District in Zhenjiang City, it has jurisdiction over nine townships, including Jianbi Town, Weigang Town, Dantu Town, Xiangshan Town, Rushan Town, Qilidian Town, Jiangqiao Town, guantangqiao town and fishery Town, as well as aquatic breeding experimental farm, Huangshan horticultural seed farm and Runzhou tea experimental farm, and is under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Bureau of agricultural reclamation Communist Youth League farm.
In October 1992, the administrative divisions of Runzhou district and Jingkou District of Zhenjiang City were adjusted. Taking the ancient canal as the boundary, Runzhou district has jurisdiction over Yunhe Road, four streets of Baota Road, Heping Road, Zhonghua Road and Jingji road in Xicheng District, five towns of Qilidian Town, Jiangqiao Town, guantangqiao town, Yuyu town and Weigang town in the suburbs, and two state-owned farms of aquaculture experimental farm and Huangshan horticultural seed farm.
In 2000, Runzhou District governed four streets, three towns and two townships: Zhonghua Road Street, Baota road street, Jingji road street, Heping Road Street, Qilidian Town, Weigang Town, Jiangqiao Town, guantangqiao town and Yuyu town. According to the data of the fifth census, the total population of the region is 268391, including 84280 in Baota Road, 13234 in Zhonghua Road, 13816 in Jingji Road, 49012 in Heping Road, 65190 in Qilidian Town, 20223 in Jiangqiao Town, 7365 in Weigang Town, 12300 in guantangqiao Township and 2971 in Jinjiang township.
In April 2001, some towns, streets, administrative villages and neighborhood committees were adjusted, and the neighborhood committee was renamed community neighborhood committee. Weigang town and Jiangqiao town were merged into Jiangqiao town; Yuyu Township and Heping Road street were merged into Heping Road Street (Jinjiang township was abolished and its administrative area was managed by Heping Road Street Office); guantangqiao township was replaced by guantangqiao town. After the adjustment, Runzhou district has jurisdiction over 3 towns, 4 streets, 3 state-owned farms, and set up a management committee for the development of private economy, with a total of 29 administrative villages, 56 community neighborhood committees, and 100 villager groups, with a population of 230437.

At the end of 2003, the total area of the region was 132.68 square kilometers, with a total population of 234700.
At the end of 2004, Runzhou district had jurisdiction over four streets and three towns.
In 2005, according to the provincial government's reply, Runzhou district changed from the original four sub district offices and three towns to four sub district offices and one town: the sub district offices of Jingji road and Zhonghua Road were abolished, and the Jinshan sub district office was merged and established at No. 1 Boxian road; Qilidian town was abolished, and Qilidian sub district office was established at Qilidian; guantangqiao town and Jiangqiao town were abolished Jiangqiao town was established by merger, and the residence was guantangqiao. Runzhou district is located at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the canal, in the southwest of Zhenjiang city. It is bounded by the ancient canal in the East, adjacent to Jingkou District of Zhenjiang City, and connected with Zhenjiang New District in the southeast; it is adjacent to the Yangtze River in the north, across the river from Hanjiang District of Yangzhou City; it is adjacent to Dantu District of Zhenjiang City in the West and South. Runzhou district belongs to the north subtropical monsoon climate zone, with obvious monsoon, transitional and variability climate characteristics: short spring and autumn, monsoon transition season, mild climate; long winter and summer, hot and rainy summer, cold and dry winter.
Runzhou district belongs to Ning, Zhen, yangqiuling district and the alluvial plain of the Yangtze River. The terrain is high in the West and low in the East, high in the South and low in the north. There are hills and plains one after another, including Jinshan, baogaishan, paomashan, wuzhoushan, Zhangshan, etc. the riverside sandbanks in Zhengrunzhou, Paiwan, nianyutao and xiaodui are formed by the deposition of silt from the Yangtze River, and the terrain is flat and wide.
