Pukou District, located in the northwest of Nanjing, is one of the eight districts in the main city of Nanjing. It is an important national pharmaceutical base, science and education base and advanced manufacturing base. The west bridgehead of Yangtze River Delta radiates inland. It is a modern riverside district with integrated circuit industry, high-end transportation equipment industry and culture and tourism health industry as the leading industrial system. Together with Liuhe District, it forms the Nanjing River Delta Beixin district.
Pukou District was founded in 1933, which originated from the eighth District of the Republic of China. Because Pukou city (puzikou city) is located in the territory, it is named Pukou District. The history of Pukou District can be traced back to the "Hemudu era". It has a civilization history of more than 7000 years and has bred diverse and unique local culture. After the Ming Taizu established the capital of Nanjing, he thought that Pukou "strangled the north and the South and clamped down the Yangtze River and Huaihe River", so he built Pukou city. Pukou was opened as a commercial port in 1912. In 1914, the Tianjin Pukou railway from Tianjin to Nanjing Pukou was officially opened to traffic. Pukou railway station became the national railway transportation hub at that time.
Pukou District is well-known as "a sage of grass, ten mile hot spring, hundred mile old mountain, thousand year old ginkgo, ten thousand egrets and one hundred thousand mu National Forest Park". It has formed three tourism systems along the old mountain, Yangtze River and Chuhe River, with "Pearl Spring Laoshan Tangquan tourist resort" as the core, and riverside urban landscape belt and rural tourism and leisure belt along Chuhe as the "two wings" ”It is a big tourism pattern.
Historical evolution
In the spring and Autumn period, Pukou first belonged to the state of Chu, then to Wu. At the beginning of the Warring States period, Wu died in Yue and returned to Chu.
From the Qin Dynasty to the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Tangyi county (later changed to Tangyi county) was subordinate to Jiujiang County, linhuai county and Guangling county.
During the Three Kingdoms period, the territory first belonged to Wei, then to Wu.
In the sixth year of Jin Taikang (285), Wujiang county was set up in the southwest of the district to govern Wujiang Town, which is subordinate to Huainan County of Yangzhou and leads the area to the west of the Pearl River. In the first year of Yongjia (307), Xuanhua town was built in Taishan town. In the first year of Long'an in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (397), Tangyi was changed into Weishi County. Today, Xuanhua Town, east of the Pearl River, is subordinate to Weishi County of Qin county.
In 502, the first year of Liang Tianjian in the Southern Dynasty, the Wei family was divided into two counties: Tangyi and Weishi. The area belongs to Weishi County. In the first year of Chen Taijian (569), it entered the Northern Qi Dynasty; in the fifth year, "Jiangpu" was recorded in the southern history as a place name.
In 583, Xuanhua town was renamed Liuhe Town. In the fourth year, Weishi County, Tangyi county and Fangshan County were abolished and Liuhe County was established. The area belongs to Wujiang County of Hezhou, Liuhe County of Fangzhou (formerly Weishi County) and Xinchang County of Chuzhou. In eighteen years, Xinchang County was changed into Qingliu County.
At the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, the area was divided into Huainan Daozhou, Wujiang County, Liuhe County, Yangzhou and Qingliu County, Chuzhou. Jinglong three years (709), divided into Qingliu County yongyang county. In 938, yongyang county was changed to Lai'an county.
During the period from Taizong of the Northern Song Dynasty to Shaoxing of the Southern Song Dynasty, the districts belonged to Wujiang County, Zhenzhou Liuhe County and Laian County of Chuzhou.
In the Yuan Dynasty, the region was divided into Luzhou Lu, Wujiang County, Zhenzhou Liuhe County, Yangzhou Lu and Laian County, Chuzhou.
At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, Wujiang County of the province entered Hezhou and belonged to Luzhou Prefecture; Laian County of the province entered Chuzhou and belonged to Fengyang Prefecture; Liuhe County changed to Yangzhou Prefecture.
In June 1376, Jiangpu County was set up in zhunjiao, Huaide, Renfeng and Baima townships of Hezhou, Xiaoyi township of Liuhe County, Fengcheng township of Chuzhou, and Hezhou, a part of which was subordinate to yingtianfu of nanzhili. The county government was located in puzikou city (now Dongmen Street). Since then, Jiangpu County and Liuhe County belong to yingtianfu respectively. In the 22nd year of Hongwu, Liuhe County was changed to yingtianfu.
In the 25th year of Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty, the new crossing was moved to Zhujiang Town, Jiangpu County (now Jiangpu Street).
In 1645, Tianfu was changed into Jiangning Prefecture, which belonged to Jiangpu and Liuhe counties of Jiangning Prefecture in Jiangnan province.
In 1853, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom changed Jiangpu County into Tianpu county.
In 1858, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom took Jiangpu County as its province and established Tianpu province.
In 1864, Jiangpu and Liuhe counties were restored to Jiangning Prefecture.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the administrative office of Jiangsu Province was established, with a two-level system of province and county. In October, the Yuan Shikai government turned Pukou into a commercial port.
In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), the three-level system of province, road and county was changed, and the district was located in Jinling Road.
In 1927, the national government moved its capital to Nanjing, abandoned the road, and changed to the provincial and county level system. Jiangpu was subordinate to the province, and Pukou commercial port area was assigned to Nanjing city from Jiangpu County.
In 1933, Jiangpu was transformed into the ninth administrative supervision district of the province, and Pukou commercial port area was transformed into the eighth District of Nanjing city.
In 1935, Jiangpu was the tenth administrative supervision district. In the 26th year of the Republic of China, the original Pukou area was restored to Jiangpu and Liuhe counties.
In 1941, Jiangpu became the fifth administrative supervision district of Jiangsu Province. After 35 years of the Republic of China, the original Pukou District was restored to the eighth district system of Nanjing.
In November 1948, the CPC Jianghuai district Party committee established the Jiangquan supervision office.
In January 1949, it was renamed Jiangquan office, which was subordinate to the fifth Office of Jianghuai High Commissioner. In February, the East China Bureau of the Communist Party of China abolished the Jiangquan office and established the Jiangpu County Government.
On April 25, 1949, after the liberation of Pukou, the towns of Puzhen and Dongmen, which belong to Jiangpu County, were put under the jurisdiction of Nanjing, and were built into liangpu District of Nanjing together with the original Pukou. On June 2, it was renamed the eighth District of Nanjing. The former Jiangpu County is subordinate to Chuxian special office of Wanbei administrative office of Anhui Province.
On June 15, 1950, Nanjing city was rezoned and the eighth district was changed into the seventh district.
In January 1953, Jiangpu was transferred from Anhui Province to Jiangsu Province, belonging to Yangzhou special area.
On August 3, 1955, the seventh district was renamed Pukou District.
In February 1956, Jiangpu belonged to Zhenjiang District; in January 1957, it belonged to Yangzhou district; in July 1958, it belonged to Nanjing city; in June 1962, it belonged to Yangzhou district; in March 1966, it belonged to Liuhe District; in March 1971, Liuhe District was abolished and returned to Nanjing city.
In 1989, Dingshan township was abolished and Dingshan town was established. In December 1992, Chengdong township was abolished and merged into Zhujiang town.
In 1995, Nanmen town was abolished and merged into Dingshan town.
In 1996, Pukou District governed one street, four towns and one township: Pukou street, Taishan Town, Dingshan Town, Yanjiang Town, Pancheng town and Yongfeng Township; Jiangpu County governed seven towns and five townships: Zhujiang Town, Qiaolin Town, Shiqiao Town, Wujiang Town, Xingdian Town, Tangquan Town, Yongning Town, Daqiao Town, dougang Town, Linshan Town, Longshan Town and Jianshe town.
In 1998, Linshan township was abolished and Wujiang town was established. In 2000, Jianshe township was abolished and merged into Zhujiang Town, dougang township was abolished and merged into Qiaolin town.
On April 3, 2002, the State Council approved the abolition of Pukou District and Jiangpu County of Nanjing and the establishment of a new Pukou District of Nanjing, with the former Pukou District and the former Jiangpu County as the administrative regions of Pukou District. The District People's government is located in Zhujiang town. In May of the same year, Nanjing adjusted the administrative division of Jiangbei District, Jiangpu County and Pukou District were merged, and a new Pukou District was officially established, covering a total area of 913.75 square kilometers.
In 2002, Dingshan town was abolished and Dingshan street was established. In 2003, Yongfeng Township was merged into Pancheng town. After the adjustment, Pukou District has jurisdiction over three streets and eight towns: Taishan street, Dingshan street, Yanjiang street, Pancheng Town, Zhujiang Town, Qiaolin Town, Shiqiao Town, Wujiang Town, Xingdian Town, Tangquan town and Yongning Town.
On March 26, 2006, Zhujiang town was officially abolished and Jiangpu street was set up, which has jurisdiction over 13 neighborhood committees and 16 villages with a population of more than 100000. In the same year, with the approval of the district government, two new community residents committees were established, and five new community residents committees were added.
By the end of 2006, Pukou District had jurisdiction over four streets and seven towns: Taishan street, Dingshan street, Yanjiang street, Jiangpu street, Qiaolin Town, Yongning Town, Tangquan Town, Xingdian Town, Shiqiao Town, Wujiang town and Pancheng town. There are 88 communities and 105 village committees in Pukou District (including 20 village residential offices).
In 2007, Pancheng Town, Tangquan town and Qiaolin town were withdrawn and streets were set up. After the adjustment of administrative divisions, Pukou District has jurisdiction over 7 streets and 4 towns: Taishan street, Dingshan street, Yanjiang street, Jiangpu street, Pancheng street, Tangquan street, Qiaolin street, Yongning Town, Xingdian Town, Shiqiao Town and Wujiang town.
On March 15, 2011, Jiangsu provincial government approved to put Citigroup village in Yongning Town under the jurisdiction of Taishan street. After the adjustment, Yongning Town covers an area of 101.51 square kilometers, with a population of 38100, governing one neighborhood committee and 10 administrative villages; Taishan Street covers an area of 48.82 square kilometers, with a population of 100800, governing 14 neighborhood committees and one administrative village.
In August 2012, Pukou District adjusted some administrative divisions: Wujiang town and Qiaolin street were merged to set up a new Qiaolin street, Shiqiao Town and Xingdian town were merged to set up Xingdian street, and Wanlong neighborhood committee of Xingdian town was connected to raozhen highway in the west, Wadian village of Tangquan Subdistrict Office in the North, Longhua neighborhood committee in the East, jiefangqiao neighborhood committee in the South (Xinjin neighborhood committee), Longshan and Longshan Well, Longhua three neighborhood committees and rhubarb village committee under the management of Tangquan street.
In July 2013, the website of Jiangsu provincial government released the reply of the provincial government on revoking the establishment of Yongning sub district office in Yongning Town, Pukou District, and agreed to cancel the establishment of Yongning sub district office in Yongning Town, Pukou District and set up Yongning sub district office in its original administrative region.
