Jinta County, subordinate to Jiuquan City, Gansu Province, is located in the northern edge of the middle section of Hexi Corridor, between 97 ° 58 ′~ 100 ° 20 ′ E and 39 ° 47 ′~ 40 ° 59 ′ n, with a total area of 18800 square kilometers. Jinta County is a typical temperate arid continental climate, with cold winter, hot summer, large temperature difference, sufficient sunshine and large evaporation. Huishui county was set up in the second year of Yuanshou (121 BC) of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty. It has a history of more than 2100 years. It used to be known as Prince village. It was named after Muqian, the eldest son of the king of Beiliang, who once established a village here. In 1913, Jinta County was named after the "Jinta Temple" in the southeast of the county. There are Shicheng stone sea, Heihe circulation, Gaoxia Pinghu, desert smoke and other natural attractions. Jinta County has won the honor of national advanced county of scientific and technological progress, national commodity grain base county, national top 100 cotton producing county, national double support model county, national advanced unit of family planning quality service, national leisure agriculture and rural tourism demonstration site.

Evolution of organizational system
In the Han Dynasty, Jiuquan county was established in the second year of Yuanshou (121 BC), and Huishui county was established in the sixth year of Yuanding (111 BC).
In the period of Wang Mang, Huishui county was changed into Xiaowu county.
In the Western Jin Dynasty (295), Huidi was renamed Huishui county.
In the Southern Dynasty, in the second year of Yongchu (421) of Emperor Wu of the Song Dynasty, Muqian of Beiliang Juqu established Muzhuang in the west of the county, which was later called "wangzizhuang".
In the Northern Wei Dynasty, in the second year of Xiaochang (526), Huishui county was abandoned. According to the water system, the western part of the county was merged into Jiuquan and the eastern part into Zhangye.
Sui Dynasty, Yangdi Daye three years (607), home Fulu county (jurisdiction Jinta County).
In the Tang Dynasty, in the second year of Wude (619), the west of Jinta belonged to Jiuquan County, and the East belonged to Fulu county. After the first year of zongdali in Tang Dynasty (766), it was controlled by Tubo. In the fifth year of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty (851), it was managed by the Guiyi army. In 872, Yizong of Tang Dynasty was controlled by Ganzhou Uighur.
In the Song Dynasty, in the first year of Baoyuan (1038) of song Renzong, Li Yuanhao, a member of the Dangxiang party, established the Xixia regime. Jinta belonged to Xixia state. The county was subordinate to Fanhe County in the West and Zhenyi County in the East.
In the Yuan Dynasty, in the fifth year of Zhongtong (1264), the emperor Shizu of the Yuan Dynasty set up the Ganzhou road general manager's Office (governing the eastern part of the county), and in the seventh year of the emperor Shizu of the Yuan Dynasty (1270), the Suzhou road general manager's Office (governing the western part of the county).
In the Ming Dynasty, in the 28th year of Hongwu (1395), Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, weiyuanwei (governing the eastern part of the county) and weiluwei (governing the western part of the county) were set up in Jinta.
Qing Dynasty, Yongzheng three years (1725), home Gaotai County (jurisdiction of the eastern county). Yongzheng seven years (1729), home Suzhou Zhili Prince Zhuang sub prefecture (jurisdiction of the western county). Yongzheng 13 years (1735), set up MaoMu city tuntian County Cheng (Gaotai County).
In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), Prince Zhuang of Zhili Prefecture of Suzhou was changed into Jinta County and Gaotai County into MaoMu County; in the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929), MaoMu county was changed into Dingxin county.
In September 1949, Jinta and Dingxin counties were peacefully liberated.
In March 1956, Jinta County and Dingxin County merged into Jinta County, which was subordinate to Zhangye Commissioner's office.
In November 1958, Jinta County and Jiuquan County merged to form Jiuquan City at the district level, which is subordinate to the people's Committee of Gansu Province.
In December 1961, Jinta County was restored as Jiuquan Commissioner's office.
In December 1978, Jinta County was subordinate to Jiuquan district administrative office.
In September 2002, Jiuquan city was set up, and Jinta County was subordinate to Jiuquan City.
In 2004, four towns and nine townships under the jurisdiction of Jinta County were merged into five towns and five townships: Jinta township was abolished and merged into Jinta town; Shuangcheng Township and tiancang Township were abolished and merged into aerospace town; Jiji township was abolished and merged into Dingxin town. The newly merged three towns are under the system of sub County town construction.
In October 2018, Jinta County governs five towns, five townships and one urban community, including Jinta Town, Zhongdong Town, Dingxin Town, Hangtian Town, Dongba Town, Sanhe Township, Gucheng Township, Dazhuangzi Township, Xiba Township, yangjingziwan Township, with 89 administrative villages, 479 villager groups and four urban communities. The county people's government is located in Jinta town.
