topographic features
Taoyuan County is a part of Hunan Jiangxi hilly area. It is located in the transition zone from the mountainous area of Western Hunan to the lakeside plain of Dongting Lake. Xuefeng and Wuling are two major mountain system branches, forming an incomplete Intermountain Hilly Basin surrounded by mountains on three sides, which inclines from the southern and northwestern mountainous areas to the central and eastern parts. The terrain is steep in the West and gentle in the East, high in the north and South and low in the middle. In the transition from mountain, hill to plain, there is the phenomenon of step down. The transition form of steep slope is common in the four grades of 100-200m, 300-400M, 500-700m and 800-1000m, showing obvious step down topography. Hills are widely distributed in the area, mainly concentrated in the middle of the basin. There is an obvious topographic turning point with the mountains. Generally, the cutting depth is deep, and the fluctuation frequency is large. The altitude of hills is 100-300 meters, and the relative altitude is 20-100 meters. The altitude of the hillock is 50-100 meters, and the relative altitude is 20-30 meters. The altitude of mountainous area is above 300-800 meters.
The remaining veins of Wuling mountains meander from west to North in the northern part of the county. The peaks with an altitude of more than 800 meters include wanyang mountain (918.1 meters) and Xingyang mountain
