Dongpo District is subordinate to Meishan City, Sichuan Province. It is located in the southwest edge of Chengdu Plain in Sichuan Basin and in the middle reaches of Minjiang River. It is adjacent to the capital of Chengdu in the north, Leshan in the south, Neijiang, Ziyang and Zigong in the East and Ya'an in the West. It is the political, economic and cultural center of Meishan city.
Dongpo District belongs to Chengdu Plain Economic Circle and is a satellite city of Chengdu, the provincial capital. It is 58 kilometers away from Chengdu in the north, 50 kilometers away from Shuangliu International Airport, and 50 kilometers away from Leshan and Emeishan in the south. The terrain in the area is flat, with plain, shallow hill and mountain area accounting for 1 / 3 respectively. The climate is mild and the annual average temperature is 17.1 ℃.
Dongpo District was called Meizhou in ancient times. Since ancient times, Dongpo District is rich in natural resources, outstanding people, beautiful mountains and rivers, ranking first in Western Shu. It was the seat of state and county as early as more than 1000 years ago. Su Xun, Su Shi and Su Zhe's father and son occupy three seats in the eight great families of Tang and Song Dynasties, especially Su Dongpo, who is known as "the first literati of all ages". During the Song Dynasty, 886 people got Jinshi, known as "800 Jinshi" in history, and became a famous "Jinshi town" in Chinese history.
Dongpo District is a national modern agricultural demonstration area. It is the hometown of Chinese pickles, Chinese Golden pomelo, Chinese late maturing citrus, and Chinese citrus honey. It is a major county of grain production, vegetable industry, seed production base, high-quality rush production, rice seed production and pig production in China. In October 2018, it was selected into the "top 100 areas of national investment potential in 2018" and the top 100 areas of national new urbanization quality in 2018. In October 2019, it was rated as one of the top 100 new urbanization quality areas in China in 2019.
Historical evolution
Dongpo District has a long history. It has been more than 1500 years since its establishment was recorded. In history, it was mostly governed by States and counties. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Meishan district was set up, and Meishan County was changed after it was abolished. On December 20, 2000, it was rebuilt into Dongpo District, which is now under the jurisdiction of Meishan City.
Meishan was founded in 496, the third year of Jianwu in the Southern Qi Dynasty. Qi tongzuo county was set up at the beginning, and it was under the jurisdiction of Meishan and Leshan.
In the ordinary years of Nanliang (520-527), it was renamed Qitong County, and it was juxtaposed with Qitong county. In 548, Qingzhou was set up, which governed Qitong county and Qitong County, and its governance was in longanpu.
In 553, Qingzhou was changed to Meizhou (named after Mount Emei), which governs Qitong and Qingcheng counties, and its governance remains unchanged. In 555, Qitong county was renamed Tongyi county.
In 558, the second year of the Ming emperor of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Qitong county was abolished and Anle county was built. It is now located in laomeishan County, belonging to Meizhou.
In the first year of Jiande (572), Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty changed Meizhou to Qingzhou, then restored Qitong county and renamed Anle County Qitong county.
In 579, Emperor Xuan of the Northern Zhou Dynasty changed Qingzhou into Jiazhou (named after Hanjia County in the Han Dynasty), and took charge of Tongyi county.
In 583, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty abolished the county and saved the prefecture. The next year, Qitong county was changed to Guangtong county. In the first year of Renshou (601), Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty abolished Tongyi county and changed Guangtong County into Tongyi County, belonging to Jiazhou.
In the second year of Daye (606), Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty changed Jiazhou to Meizhou, and the state government moved to Tongyi county (from Longshi village of Taihe Town to laomeishan county). Soon after, Meishan County was established, and Longyou (now Shizhong District of Leshan City) was governed by the county.
In 618, the first year of Wude, Emperor Gaozu of Tang Dynasty, Meishan County was abolished and Jiazhou was restored. The next year, Meizhou was divided from Jiazhou, which governed Tongyi county (now the old Meishan County), and governed Tongyi, Danling, Hongya, Nan'an (now Jiajiang) and Qingshen. Since then, Meizhou county has adjusted many times.
In 742, Meizhou was abolished and Tongyi county was established. In 758, the first year of Qianyuan reign of emperor suzong of Tang Dynasty, Tongyi county was abolished and Meizhou was restored.
In 976, Taizong of Song Dynasty changed Tongyi County into Meishan County, belonging to Meizhou.
In 1283, Meishan County was abolished and returned to Meizhou Zhili.
In 1376, the ninth year of Hongwu, Emperor Taizu of Ming Dynasty, Meizhou was established as Meixian County, belonging to jiadingzhou. In 1380, Meixian County was upgraded to Meizhou. It was under the jurisdiction of Sichuan provincial government and had jurisdiction over Danling, Pengshan and Qingshen counties. Since then, the Ming and Qing dynasties have followed this construction.
In 1913, Meizhou was abolished and Meishan County was restored to shangchuannan road. The next year, it was changed to Jianchang road.
In 1935, the fourth administrative supervision district of Sichuan Province was set up to govern Meishan County, with jurisdiction over Meishan, Pengshan, Danling, Qingshen, Jiajiang, Hongya, Dayi, Qionglai, Mingshan and Pujiang counties.
In January 1950, Meishan district was set up to govern Meishan County, which belongs to Western Sichuan administrative office and still governs 10 counties. Later, Dayi was set aside and Xinjin was set aside.
On March 5, 1953, Meishan district was abolished and Meishan County was changed into Leshan district (later Leshan City).
On August 26, 1997, Meishan district (separate from Leshan City) was set up to govern Meishan County, and Meishan County was subordinate to Zhili of Meishan district.
In July 2000, Meishan Prefecture was abolished and Meishan city was established. On December 20 of the same year, Meishan County was abolished and transformed into Dongpo District (county level).

Evolution and change
In 2017, with the approval of Sichuan Provincial People's government, Dongpo District of Meishan City abolished Sansu Township and established Sansu Town, with the former administrative region of Sansu township as the administrative region of Sansu town.
On December 6, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's government issued the reply of Sichuan Provincial People's Government on approving Meishan City to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns and townships (cfgm [2019] No. 13): 1. Cancel Yuexing town and put its administrative area under the jurisdiction of Taihe Town. Tui Township, Fusheng Township and Jinhua Township were abolished, and the administrative areas of former Tui Township, Zhongfu village of former Fusheng Township and Hedong community of Taihe Town were put under the jurisdiction of Funiu town. 2. The administrative areas of Xinjie community, Guansheng village, Zhonggui village, Zhongtang village, Zhongfang village in Fusheng Township, Jinjiang village and Hongyang village in Jinhua township are under the jurisdiction of Chongli town.
3. Liusheng Township and Fuxing Township were abolished, and Fuxing town was established. The administrative areas of Fuxing town were the original Fuxing Township, the original Liusheng Township and the original Tongzheng street community of Jinhua Township, Zhengyi village, changshangeng village, Baita village, Jinhua village and Hongling village. 4. Xianger town and Baima town were abolished and their administrative areas were put under the jurisdiction of Shangyi town. 5. Guangji township was abolished and its administrative region was put under the jurisdiction of Sansu town.
6. Chongren town was abolished and its administrative region was put under the jurisdiction of Simeng town. 7. The administrative areas of Xinsi village, Datong village and Xinxing village in Qinjia town are under the jurisdiction of Wansheng town; the administrative areas of Hongfeng village, Maqiao village, Songping village and Yili village in Qinjia town are under the jurisdiction of Duoyue town.
8. Pan'ao township was abolished and its administrative area was put under the jurisdiction of Qinjia town. After the adjustment, Qinjia town governs Qinjia community, pan'ao community, Jinfeng community, Chunguang village, Maqiao village, Wanggou village, Mars village, Baiyan village, Guxin village, Dahong village, Baimiao village, Dafo village, pan'ao village, zhengwan village, Mituo village, zhangmiao village, Hailuo village and zhoumiao village.

Dongpo District is located between Zonggang mountain and Longquan Mountain. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The highest point is Wushan in Wansheng town (qianwufeng township), 948.5 meters above sea level, and the lowest point is the raft crossing center of Minjiang River in Yongshou town (qianluoping town), 391.4 meters above sea level, with a difference of 557.1 meters. The area is mainly composed of flat dams and terraces, accounting for 48.43% and 33.31% of the total area respectively. The rest are shallow hills, deep hills and low mountains, accounting for 9.82%, 3.32% and 5.12% of the total area respectively.
There are five mountain ranges in Dongpo District: xianger mountain range, Yaoyi mountain range, wenjiaao mountain range, Changlao mountain range and Sanfeng mountain range.

Dongpo District is a subtropical humid climate zone, with no severe cold in winter, no severe heat in summer, rare frost and snow, four distinct seasons, abundant rainfall and abundant light and temperature resources. The annual average temperature is 17.2 ℃, the frost free period is 318 days, the annual average rainfall is 1057.5 mm, and the average annual sunshine hours is 1193.8 hours. Dongpo District belongs to the Minjiang River system. The rivers in Dongpo District are distributed in branches, mainly including "one river and four rivers": Minjiang River. The transit section is 35.15km long, 500m to 650m wide, and the water area is 23km2. Simeng river is 38.85 km long and 75-105 m wide. The total length of Liquan river is 66.87 km, the width is 20 m to 50 m, and the average annual discharge is 5.67 m3 / s.
Yuye River, with a total length of 24.3 km, a width of 146 m to 156 m and an average annual flow of 5.67 m3 / s, is located in this area. Wangdianzi river is 15.8km long and 110m wide with an average annual flow of 0.4m3/s. The amount of surface water resources in the region is 641.87 million cubic meters, and the net underground water reserves is 2.3 million cubic meters
