Lingao County is a county directly under the central government of Hainan Province. It is located in the northwest of Hainan Island, adjacent to Chengmai County in the East, Danzhou City in the southwest, Beibu Gulf in the northwest, Qiongzhou Strait in the north and Leizhou Peninsula across the sea. Historical evolution
Lingao, the ancient name of Fuluo and Linji, belonged to Xiangjun as early as Qin Dynasty.
In the first year of Yuanfeng (110 BC) of the Western Han Dynasty, zhuya and daner county were established.
In the fifth year of the first Yuan Dynasty (82 BC), Emperor Zhao of the Han Dynasty combined dan'er with zhuya, and Lingao belonged to zhuya.
Sui Yangdi Daye three years (607) began to build the county, because the county governance of the mountain, so named Pishan County, is zhuya county.
In 622, Bishan County was changed into Fuluo County, belonging to Danzhou. In the same year, Fuluo county was withdrawn, and Linji (chicken) county was set up in Linji village, which is 40 li away from the coast of nanyudu. Obviously, the name of the county comes from the name of the village.
Tang Xuanzong Kaiyuan year (713 years) more now called Lingao, Song Dynasty when the pro eminent monks merged into Qiongzhou.
Shaoxing in Southern Song Dynasty (1131-1162) moved to Zhimo village.
During the period of the Republic of China, Lingao County was subordinate to QiongYa administrative office of Guangdong Province, Nanqu rehabilitation office and Hainan Special Administrative office.
Lingao County was liberated on April 21, 1950.
On November 30, 1958, Lingao and Chengmai merged into Jinjiang county.
It was separated from Jinjiang County in May 1961.
