Hongjiang Hongjiang, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Hunan Province, is managed by Huaihua City. It is located in the west of Hunan Province, the upper reaches of Yuanshui River and the Xuefeng mountain area on the eastern edge of Yunnan Guizhou Plateau. It is adjacent to Xupu and Dongkou in the East, Suining and Huitong in the south, Zhijiang in the West and Huaihua City in the north, with a total area of 2173.54 square kilometers. As of 2019, Hongjiang City had 7 towns and 13 townships, with a total population of 433 thousand and 700 registered residence.
Hongjiang has a long history. Today, Hongjiang belongs to Chu in the Warring States period and Qianzhong County in the Qin Dynasty. It starts from the Tuling boundary of Xima Township in the East and ends at liyuwan in Tuokou town in the west, with a length of 102 kilometers. It starts from Xuefeng boundary of longchuantang Township in the South and ends at Dayuan of chatou Township in the north, with a width of 55 kilometers. The terrain is affected by Xuefeng mountains, high in the southeast and low in the northwest. It is connected with river valley and plain by mountains and hills. There are many mountains in the southeast, with an altitude of more than 400 meters. The highest peak is Su Baoding, with an altitude of 1934 meters. The central Anhong river valley basin is low and flat, with an altitude of 300-400 meters. The main tourist attractions in the territory include Qianyang ancient city, Yuancheng ancient village, Yanying cave Grand Canyon, Xuefeng Mountain National Forest Park, etc.

Historical evolution
Hongjiang has a long history. Today, Hongjiang belongs to Chu in the Warring States period. Qin is the prefecture of Central Guizhou. Qin is the prefecture of Central Guizhou.
In the fifth year of Gaozu in the Western Han Dynasty (202), it belongs to Wuling county. The Eastern Han Dynasty and the three kingdoms were due to this.
In the reign of Yixi (405-418) of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Tan county was abandoned and merged into Wuyang county. Wuyang government (now Zhijiang) moved Tan county and changed it into Tan city. Southern and Northern Dynasties: in 479, Wuyang was changed to Yuanyang, still belonging to Wuling county. Liang changed Yuanyang to Longbiao County, which is subordinate to Nanyang County. Chen Wudi Yongding three years (559), changed to Yuanling County.
In the ninth year of Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty (589), Chenzhou was set up and Longbiao was changed to Chenzhou. Yangdi Daye first year (605), back to Yuanling County.
Tang Gaozu Wude seven years (624 years), changed to Chenzhou. In the eighth year of Zhenguan (634), it was divided into Langxi County, Longci county was changed into Longbiao County, belonging to Wuzhou (the Prefecture was governed in Qiancheng of Hongjiang City), and Longbiao (now Qiancheng of Hongjiang City) was set up. In 691, Wuzhou was changed into Yuanzhou, and Longbiao county was subordinate to Yuanzhou. In 703, Yuanzhou was changed into Wuzhou. Xuanzong Kaiyuan 13 years (725), and changed to Wuzhou. Tianbao first year (742), renamed Tanyang County, belongs to Qianzhong road. Daizong Dali five years (770), renamed Xuzhou.

From the Yuan Dynasty to the 14th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1277), Qianyang County was under the jurisdiction of Yuanzhou road general manager's office, and was under the jurisdiction of Huguang Zhongshu province.
In 1368, Qianyang was subordinate to Yuanzhou Prefecture. In the ninth year of Hongwu (1376), Yuanzhou Prefecture was reduced to a prefecture, and Qianyang belonged to Chenzhou Prefecture, which was under the jurisdiction of Hu guangbu political department.
In 1647, Qianyang County was incorporated into the territory of the Qing Dynasty and still belonged to Chenzhou Prefecture. In the first year of Qianlong (1736), Yuanzhou was promoted to the capital, and Qianyang was the capital of Yuanzhou.
In 1935, the Hunan provincial government set up the "Xiangxi appeasement office" in Yuanling, which divided the 19 counties within the scope of appeasement into five administrative supervision districts, and Qianyang belonged to Zhi, Qian, Ma and Huang administrative supervision districts. In May of the next year, the office of the commissioner was officially established in the administrative supervision district. Qianyang County is the fourth administrative supervision district, and the special office is set up in Qianyang. In April 1940, it was changed into the tenth administrative supervision district. The special office was moved to Hongjiang, and Qianyang County was under the jurisdiction of the tenth administrative region.
On October 3, 1949, Qianyang was liberated. On November 1, the people's Government of Qianyang County was established, and Anjiang town was set up under Huitong district. In August 1952, Huitong district was abolished and Zhijiang district was established. Qianyang County was subordinate to Zhijiang district. On December 2, 2000, Zhijiang district was renamed Qianyang district. In May of the next year, the special office moved to dayuping, Anjiang Town, Qianyang County. In February 1975, the special office moved to Huaihua City. In June 1981, Qianyang administrative office became Huaihua administrative office, and Qianyang County was subordinate to Huaihua administrative office.
In November 1997, with the approval of the State Council, Hongjiang City and Qianyang County were abolished and merged to establish Hongjiang City at county level, with the former administrative region of Hongjiang City and Qianyang County as the new administrative region of Hongjiang City. Hongjiang Municipal People's government is located in Qiancheng town.
