Runan County Runan County is subordinate to Zhumadian City, Henan Province. It is adjacent to Pingyu County in the East, Shangcai County in the north, Zhengyang County in the South and Yicheng city in the west, with a total area of 1475 square kilometers.
Located in Huaibei plain, Runan has a history of nearly 2000 years. At that time, it was already a land and water wharf connecting the north and south of the Central Plains. There are more than 280 cultural sites in the territory, approved by the State Council of China as an open county, and determined by the Henan provincial government as a historical and cultural city.

Historical evolution
In ancient times, Runan belonged to Yuzhou.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, Runan belonged to the state of CAI.
In the second year of Gaozu (205 BC) of the Western Han Dynasty, Runan County was established. The county was governed by Shangcai. It was under the jurisdiction of Pingyu, Yichun and Ancheng. At that time, it was already a water and land wharf connecting the north and south of the Central Plains. By the time of Emperor Wen at the latest, Runan County had been set up by Chen county. In the second year of emperor Jing (156 BC), he set up Runan state and established his son Liu Fei as king of Runan. In the third year (155 BC), Liu Fei was moved to be king of Jiangdu, and Runan was divided into counties.
In 213, the 18th year of Jian'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Cao Cao analyzed the father of Runan County and Pei County, and set up Qiao County. It also analyzes that Runan County and Jiangxia county set up Yiyang County.
In the fifth year of Jianxing in the Western Jin Dynasty (317), Shangcai County moved here, known as "xuanhu city". It is said in shuijingzhu that the river flows from east to west, and embraces the city on three sides. It is shaped like a hanging gourd, so it is called xuanhu city.
In the 14th year of Yixi (418) of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the Runan County government moved here.
In the northern and Southern Dynasties, Liu and song established the state, and later the Zhou Dynasty set up the general manager's office. In the Sui Dynasty, it was still run by Runan County, and another Ruyang County was set up in the prefecture, and xuanhu city was changed into Qinzhou.
In the Tang Dynasty, Baoying was changed from a taboo state to a state of CAI.
In Song Dynasty, Huaikang army was set up, in Jin Dynasty, Zhennan army was set up, and Xinggong palace was built.
In the thirtieth year of the Yuan Dynasty (1293), because the water from the upper source of the Ruhe River was cut off and flowed into the Yinghe river through Yancheng, the flood disaster in Runan was greatly reduced, and the people got a little peace. Caizhou was changed into runing Prefecture, which is one of the eight prefectures in Henan Province.
In the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Di, the founder of Chengzu, granted the fourth son of a vassal to runing Prefecture, known as chongzhuang king, and passed it on for 11 generations.
Qing Dynasty is still Ru Ning Fu. In 1913, the government was abolished and changed to Runan County.
In 1924, the office of the eighth administrative supervision commissioner of Henan Province was set up here.
In the early days of liberation, a special office for Runan was set up. Runan city was established in 1950 and merged into Runan County in 1951.
On June 15, 1965, the State Council approved the establishment of Zhumadian area in Henan Province, which belongs to Runan County.
On May 9, 2019, after Henan provincial special evaluation and inspection, Runan County reached the standard of poverty alleviation and officially withdrew from the poverty county sequence.

In 2007, with the approval of the people's Government of Henan Province, Ma Township of Runan County was renamed Liangzhu town. The administrative region of the original Ma Township is under the jurisdiction of Liangzhu town as a whole. In 2009, with the approval of the people's Government of Henan Province, Runan County was approved to abolish runing Town, sanlidian Township and sanmenzha Township, and set up three sub district offices of runing, Guta and sanmenzha.
