Changdao County Changdao County (has been abolished), named after Changshan island in the territory, formerly under the jurisdiction of Yantai City, Shandong Province. Changdao County is located between Jiaodong Peninsula and Liaodong Peninsula, at the intersection of the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea. It is the only island county in Shandong Province. Changdao County consists of 151 islands, including 10 residential islands. The island has a land area of 56.8 square kilometers, a sea area of 3541 square kilometers and a coastline of 187.8 kilometers.
The main tourist attractions in Changdao County include jiuzhangya, banyuewan National Geopark, Miaodao ancient temples, fairyland source folk custom park, linhaifeng Mountain National Forest Park, Miaodao Mazu Cultural Park, Beizhuang site, etc.
In June 2018, the people's Government of Shandong Province officially approved the establishment of the Long Island Marine Ecological Civilization comprehensive experimental zone. In November 2018, Changdao County was selected into the 2018 national "happy hundred counties list". The third batch of "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains" practice and innovation bases.
In June 2020, the State Council approved the cancellation of Penglai City and Changdao County and the establishment of Penglai District, with the former administrative region of Penglai City and Changdao County as the administrative region of Penglai district; on September 1 of this year, Penglai district was officially listed, and Changdao was operated independently according to the provincial marine ecological civilization construction functional zone system.

On June 5, 2020, the State Council approved the cancellation of Penglai City and Changdao County and the establishment of Penglai District in Yantai city with guohan [2020] No. 81 document. The former administrative region of Penglai City and Changdao County is the administrative region of Penglai district. The people's Government of Penglai district is located at No. 1, East Zhonglou Road, Dengzhou Street (the former resident of Penglai municipal government).

Changdao County is located between Jiaodong Peninsula and Liaodong Peninsula, at the intersection of Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, Yantai in the south, Dalian in the north, Beijing and Tianjin in the west, Korea and Japan across the Yellow Sea in the East.
Long Island County consists of 32 islands and 8700 square kilometers of sea area. The islands and 66 reefs are straight and north-south, and are in the Bohai Straits. 42.2 kilometers from the old fellow iron mountain in Liaoning and 7 kilometers from Penglai in the south. The length of the north and South Islands is 56.4 km, the width of the East and West islands is 30.8 km, the land area is 56 square km, and the coastline is 146 km.
Geology and geomorphology
The total land area of Changdao County is 53.17 square kilometers, mainly characterized by denuded mountains and coastal landforms. In the south, islands are scattered all over the world, and the bank slopes are buffered; in the north, most of the islands are isolated peaks and plunge into the sea, and the bank is steep and deep. The highest island is Gaoshan Island, with an altitude of 200.8 meters. The lowest island is dongzuishi Island, with an altitude of 7.2 meters. The largest island is Nanchangshan Island, with an area of 12.8 square kilometers. It is the residence of Changdao County Government. The smallest island is xiaogaoshan Island, with an area of 0.0008 square kilometers.
There is a geological structure phenomenon of "large regional inverted Strata" in Changdao County. The near horizontal occurrence of Penglai group quartzite and sand shale on the island is not a normal stratigraphic sequence, which indicates that the strata produced large-scale closed folds, and the strata exposed on the surface should be fold inverted wings.
Changdao County is a hilly area with a small area of plain in the coastal area. The highest island in the territory is Gaoshan Island, with an altitude of 202.8 meters; the lowest island is dongzuishi Island, with an altitude of 7.2 meters.

Changdao County has a total land area of 5727 hectares, including 3128 hectares of agricultural land, 1269 hectares of urban and industrial land, and 1329 hectares of unused land. The sea area of Changdao is wide and the water depth is mostly within 30 meters, which is suitable for mariculture. There are more than 100 species of fish, more than 30 species of shrimps and crabs, more than 40 species of snails and shellfish, and 119 species of algae around the island. It is the main producing area of Chinese sea cucumber, abalone, sea urchin, scallop and other marine treasures. There are 18 orders, 45 families and 232 species of birds on land, so it is called "migratory bird kingdom" and is a national nature reserve. There are 204 families and 569 species of terrestrial herbs, 91 families and 154 species of marine herbs, and 24 families and 53 species of birds.
