Wuping County Wuping is one of the seven counties (cities, districts) in Longyan City, covering an area of 2630 square kilometers. It governs 17 towns (streets), 225 villages (residences) and has a population of about 400000. The main characteristics of the county are as follows
Wuping County is adjacent to Jiaoling and Pingyuan counties in Guangdong Province in the South and Xunwu and Huichang counties in Jiangxi Province in the West. It has a special location of "one foot on three provinces, three provinces returning in one day". It is the southwest gateway of Fujian to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. There are Yongwu and Zhangwu expressways and the longlong railway under construction in the county, which has been integrated into the half day economic circle of coastal developed cities in Guangdong Province.
Wuping County is a former revolutionary base area county and a Central Soviet area county. Mao Zedong and other revolutionaries of the older generation once entered Wuping three times. General Liu Yalou was the first air force commander of new China. It is the birthplace of the collective forest right system reform initiated by general secretary Xi Jinping and led by himself. It is known as "Quan Guolin changed to the first county". General secretary Xi Jinping made important instructions to the masses of letters from Lin Ping and Jie Wen village.
Wuping County, with a forest coverage rate of 79.7%, is the first "China's natural oxygen bar" in Fujian Province. It has been rated as the National Garden County, the National Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration County, the national greening model county, the National Forest Tourism Demonstration County, the first batch of national global tourism demonstration areas, and the first batch of national forest health bases. From 2016 to 2019, it won the title of "top ten counties for county economic development in Fujian Province" for four consecutive years.
Wuping County was awarded the fifth national (county-level) civilized city, and was listed as the national pilot county of county-level financial media center construction and the national pilot county of new era civilization practice center. Wuping County belongs to Yangzhou in Xia and Shang Dynasties, Qimin in Western Zhou Dynasty and Yue in Eastern Zhou Dynasty.
Qin belonged to Minzhong County, han to Nanhai Wangzhi fiefdom, Wu to Jian'an county.
In 282 (the third year of Jin Taikang), today Wuping belongs to Xinluo County, Jin'an county.
After Tingzhou was established in 736 ad (the 24th year of Kaiyuan of Tang Dynasty), Nanan (now Pingchuan town) and Wuping (now Zhongshan town) were established in the southwest of the state, which were subordinate to Changting.
In 946 ad (the fourth year of Baoda in the Southern Tang Dynasty), the two towns were called wupingchang.
In 994 ad (the fifth year of Chunhua in Song Dynasty), Wuping County was upgraded to Wuping County.
In 1913 (2 years of the Republic of China), the system of prefectures and prefectures was abolished. Since then, Wuping has been the eighth and seventh special office of Fujian Provincial inspectors.
During the second Civil Revolutionary War, Wuping County was an important part of the Central Soviet area. In October 1929, the Soviet government of Wuping County was established under the Soviet government of Western Fujian.
In January 1931, Wudong and Wubei regions of Wuping and Shanghang jointly established the Soviet government of Hangwu County, which was subordinate to the Soviet government of Fujian Province. In December of the same year, Hangwu county was abolished, and Wudong and Wubei were assigned to Wuping County.
In 1935, after the Red Army left the central base, the Soviet government in Wuping County gradually stopped its activities.
In May 1949, Lian Ping, the head of Wuping County, announced the uprising and established the Wuping branch of the provisional Action Committee of the Western Fujian volunteer army. Soon after, the remnants of the Kuomintang harassed and occupied Wuping; on October 17 of the same year, the four field units of the Chinese people's Liberation Army recovered Wuping; on November 7, the people's Government of Wuping County was established.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Wuping was successively subordinate to Gongshu, the eighth Commissioner of Fujian Province, Longyan District, Longyan district and Longyan city.

In November 2018, Xiangdian Township, Dahe Township and Zhongchi township of Wuping County were abolished and Xiangdian Town, Dahe Town and Zhongchi town of Wuping County were established; Pingchuan town of Wuping County was abolished and Pingchuan sub district office of Wuping County was established.

In May 1989, Yuanyu village of Wudong township was divided into two administrative villages: Yuanshang and yuanxia; Dongwen village was divided into two administrative villages: Xindong and jiaowen; in September, kongxia village of Yongping township was divided into two administrative villages: kongxia and Chaoyang; in October, xiangkeng village of Taoxi township was divided into two administrative villages: xiangkeng and Xiangxi.
In July 1992, Zhaoxin village of Yongping township was divided into Zhaoxin and longguiyi administrative villages; in 2000, there were 214 administrative villages in the county.

In April 1996, the Hexi residents committee was set up in Pingchuan Town, and in September, the Nanmen residents committee was added.

Wuping County is located in the southwest of Wuyi Mountain, which belongs to the upper Paleozoic overburden in southwest Fujian. In the north, the middle and low mountains are vertical and horizontal, and there are inter mountain basins and valleys between them; in the south, the low mountains are undulating, and there are many low hills and valleys. The terrain of the whole county inclines from northwest to Southeast, and is higher in the north and lower in the south.
In the north of Dahe, Xiangdian, Yongping and Taoxi towns, most of them are low mountains and high hills. The low mountains with an altitude of 500-800 meters account for 57.4% of the area, the high hills with an altitude of 250-500 meters account for 36.84%, and the middle mountains with an altitude of more than 800 meters only account for 5.76% of the total area.
Taoxi town in the middle of Xinlan, Xinhua, Zhongpu town Daji, Wudi, Xinhu, luozhu, Linfang, Chaoling, Zhangfeng area for the middle and low mountain landform. Over 800 meters above sea level, 51.91% of the area is middle mountain, 31.29% is low mountain, and only 16.8% is high hill.
Most of the areas in the west of Dahe Township, Dongliu Township and Minzhu Township in the West and southwest belong to the main body of the southern section of Wuyi Mountains, with high hills and low mountains. The high hills with an altitude of 250-500 meters account for 47.6% of the area, the low mountains with an altitude of 500-800 meters account for 38.2%, the middle mountains with an altitude of more than 800 meters account for 8.18%, and the low hills and valleys with an altitude of 150-250 meters only account for 6.02% of the total area.
In the south, Wan'an, Pingchuan, Chengxiang, Zhongshan, Zhongchi, Xiaba and other towns are arranged with the valleys and mountains of Pingchuan River, Zhongchi River and Xiaba river basins, which are low mountains and valleys. High hills below 500 meters above sea level account for 68.93% of the area, low mountains between 500 and 800 meters account for 27.54%, and middle mountains above 800 meters only account for 3.53% of the total area.
Shifang and Yanqian towns in the southeast and part of Wudong and Zhongbao towns are hilly and basin landforms. The high hills with an altitude of 250-500m account for 51.28% of the total area, the low hills with an altitude of 500-800m account for 44.93%, and the middle mountains with an altitude above 800m and the low hills with an altitude below 250m only account for 3.79% of the total area.

Wuping is located in latitude 24 ° 47 ′~ 25 ° 29 ′, 180 km south of the South China Sea, belonging to subtropical marine monsoon climate. It is warm and humid with abundant rainfall. The rainfall is relatively concentrated in the same period of rain and heat. The dry and wet seasons are obvious. The four seasons are distinct. The summer is long and the winter is short. In the middle of February, the average temperature of the whole county began to reach above 10 ℃ in spring, which lasted about 80 days; in the first ten days of May, the average temperature began to reach above 22 ℃ in summer, which lasted about 160 days; in the first ten days of October, the average temperature began to enter autumn, which lasted about 80 days; in the last ten days of December, the average temperature began to be lower than 10 ℃ in winter, which lasted about 40 days. Due to the complex terrain and the great difference in altitude, "one mountain has four seasons and ten miles have different days", the regional climate is quite different, and the start and duration of four seasons are also different. Generally, for every 100 m elevation, it will be delayed for 3-5 days in spring and shortened for 2-3 days in autumn.

There are 18 rivers with a drainage area of more than 50 square kilometers, with a total length of 499.4 kilometers, and a drainage area of 2283 square kilometers in the county. It radiates out to the East, West, North and south of the county, belonging to three water systems of Meijiang river, Tingjiang River and Ganjiang River, with an average annual runoff of 2.56 billion cubic meters.
