Meilie District Meilie district (formerly belonging to Shaxian County, Yanping Prefecture, which has been abolished) is subordinate to Sanming City, Fujian Province. It is located in the northwest of Sanming City and the northwest of Sanming City. It borders Shaxian County in the northeast, Mingxi County in the northwest and Sanyuan District in the south. On February 3, 2021, Fujian Provincial People's government agreed to abolish Meilie district and Sanyuan District of Sanming City and establish a new Sanyuan District of Sanming City, with the former administrative region of Meilie district and Sanyuan District as the new administrative region of Sanyuan District. The origin of place names
Meilie district is called "Weili" in the late Tang Dynasty and early Song Dynasty. Ming Wanli 14 years (1586), the construction of Castle, known as "Li'an fort.". The merchants in Qing Dynasty suspected that "Weili" was "doomsday", which was unfavorable to business, so they changed "Weili" to "Meilie" by dialect homophony.

In the fourth year of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (379), Shashu was set up in the south of Yanping county (now Nanping City), Jian'an County, and Meilie was a Shashu. During the reign of Yixi (405-418), Shacun county was set up, and Meilie belonged to Shacun county. In 621, it was renamed Shaxian. During the 1560 years to the 28th year of the Republic of China (1939), Meilie was subordinate to Shaxian County (Shacun county).

In Yuan Dynasty, Sha county belonged to Yanping Road, 8 Li was changed into 32 regiments, Lidong, Lixi and Yangxi belonged to Weili regiment, and today Chenda town belongs to Shanxia regiment.
In the Ming Dynasty, Sha county belonged to Yanping Prefecture, with 32 capitals. In the sixth year of Chenghua (1470), 19 districts were divided into Guihua (now Mingxi) County, and the remaining districts and 20 districts were named shanxiatuan (now Chenda town) and yifengtuan (now Huyuan Township and Daluo township) in the Yuan Dynasty. Mei was listed as the 20 capitals and 21 capitals of Sha county.
In the Qing Dynasty, along with the Ming Dynasty, the administrative region of Shaxian County was generally stable. In the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, "Weili" was changed to "Meilie" by dialect homophony. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Shaxian administrative office was established, belonging to Jian'an Road. In 1915, Shaxian County established seven district offices. Meilie belonged to the western district and Yangxi to the upper Southern District. In April 1933, the people's Committee of the Chinese Soviet government designated Shaxian as the Central Soviet Area, and Meilie was a part of the Central Soviet area. In November, the "Fujian incident" took place, and the people's Government of the people's Republic of China was established. The former Fujian Province was divided into four provinces: minhai, Yanjian, Xingquan and Longting. Shaxian County belongs to Yanjian province. In April of 1934, Shaxian County was divided into 7 districts and 46 joint insurances. Yangxi township is set up in the third district, and Sanyuan township is set up in the Fifth District, which governs Sanyuan and Meilie. At the end of the year, the province set up 10 administrative supervision districts, and Shaxian County was the third administrative supervision district. In June 1936, Sha county set up three district offices, and Meilie was the second (three yuan) district office. In July, the reorganization of Baojia was completed, and 28 joint insurances were set up in the county. Meilie area is set with liexi Lianbao, Liedong Lianbao and Bixi Lianbao. February, 1939. The county was divided into one town and five townships. The Meilie Township Office has set up liexi, which has jurisdiction over 10 protectors, namely, Heren, Chonggui, Xubi, Fenghou, Leihua, Renyi, Longgang, Chenda, Bixi and Shajiao. Since then, Meilie area belongs to Sanyuan county.
On January 28, 1950, Sanyuan county was liberated and put under the seventh (Yong'an) administrative Commissioner's office. The township and town system and Baojia system of the old regime were abolished, and the old one town and five townships in the county were divided into Meilie and Xinkou district offices. Meilie district office is located in liexi.
In July 1956, Sanyuan county and Mingxi County merged and established Sanming County, which was under the jurisdiction of Nanping District, with eight district offices. Meilie district office is located in liexi, under the jurisdiction of Sanming county.
In August 1958, Meilie district and Xinkou District merged and established Chengguan people's commune, which is located in Chengguan.
In February 1959, Sanming County merged with Fujian Sanming heavy industry construction committee to establish Sanming people's commune Preparatory Committee (prefecture level) under the jurisdiction of the original Sanyuan and Mingxi counties. Meilie still belongs to Chengguan people's commune. In September of the same year, four sub district offices, Chengguan, Xiayang, Liedong and liexi, were set up in the urban area. The sub district offices were subordinate to Chengguan people's commune.
In January 1960, Sanming City (under the provincial jurisdiction) was established, under the jurisdiction of the former Sanyuan and Mingxi counties. The four sub district offices under the jurisdiction of the former Chengguan people's commune were changed into four people's commune branches.
In August 1961, Chengguan people's commune was changed into Sanming City Office (county level), and the people's commune branch under its jurisdiction was changed into people's commune.
In May 1963, Sanming City under the provincial jurisdiction was changed into a special district, and another Sanming City under the local jurisdiction was set up. At the same time, the city office was cancelled. Six communes, including Chengguan, Liedong, liexi, Xinkou, Zhongcun and Yanqian, were put under the jurisdiction of Sanming City.
After May 1966, the "Cultural Revolution" began all over the country. Leading bodies of the party and government at all levels were paralyzed. In October 1968, Sanming Revolutionary Committee was established, and the administrative divisions of the city were adjusted. Three communes, Chengguan, Liedong and liexi, were abolished, and two communes, Chengcheng and Chenda, were established. The city has five people's communes (urban area, Chenda, Xinkou, Yanqian, Zhongcun) and one town (Jingxi). Meilie district is divided into urban area and Chenda commune.

From 2000 to 2003, Meilie District governed three streets, one town and two townships: Liedong street, liexi street, Beimen street, Chenda Town, Yangxi Township and Xubi township.
On June 25, 2005, the name of Xubi Township and Beimen sub district office was renamed as follows: (1) Xubi Township under the jurisdiction of Meilie district was abolished. At the beginning of 2006, Meilie Ruiyun economic development zone was upgraded to Fujian Meilie Economic Development Zone, located in Xiaojiao village.
In September 2008, the division of Liedong street was adjusted and Xinhe community was established.
On July 13, 2011, Yangxi township was abolished and Yangxi town was established. The former administrative region of Yangxi township was the administrative region of Yangxi town.
