Historical restoration
In the early years of the Republic of China, sangxing, the abbot of Xilu Temple (named Mengdong, who was the president of Anhui Buddhist Association in 1945), carried out a large-scale renovation of Xilu temple.
Since then, up to the 1950s and 1960s after the founding of the people's Republic of China, there were still five temples with green bricks, carved beams and painted buildings, more than 100 rooms, tens of thousands of scriptures and 16 types of Buddha statues.
On February 19, July 30 and September 19 of the lunar calendar, thousands of pilgrims and tourists come to the temple fair of Xilu temple. The morning bell and the evening drum keep the incense burning.
During the "Cultural Revolution" period from 1966 to 1967, the Buddhist statues of Xilu temple were smashed, and all the Scriptures including longcangquanjing were destroyed. Only three Liling Hall (commonly known as Dawang Hall) were left in the temple building, and the rest were demolished.
In the spring of 1995, the Great Hall of Xilu temple was renovated. This hall is now located in the South and North, with one ridge and four belts, green tiles on the storage wall and red carving buildings. Inside the hall, there is a large Bodhisattva of the king of Tibet. On both sides of the hall, it is decorated with high hanging colors, with cigarette grade system. On both sides of the great hall, six new tile roofed houses and three Buddha statues were built.
In recent years, the temple fair is heating up year by year. In particular, the temple fair on February 19 of the lunar calendar is an unprecedented event with 20000 or 30000 pilgrims.
