brief introduction
It's only 50 kilometers from Tainan to Kaohsiung. Located in the southernmost tip of the Tainan plain, Kaohsiung is a city developed by port. Its scale is second only to Taipei City, ranking second in the province. It is a new port city. Its port is very advantageous in geographical situation, which is built by using natural lagoon. Outside the port area, there is a northwest southeast sandbank, namely Qijin Peninsula, which is 11.3km long and 200m wide on average. It is like a giant dragon crouching in the blue waves of the Taiwan Strait, becoming a natural breakwater to protect Kaohsiung port from wind and waves. The harbor inside the dam is wide and deep, with clear waves, while the sea outside the dam is rough, and the water is connected with the sky. At the northwest end of the port area, there is a gap, 136 meters wide, connecting with the open sea. This is the first port of Kaohsiung port, Qihou port. As Shoushan and qihoushan stand on both sides, the situation is extremely dangerous. However, due to the limited width, cargo ships of more than 30000 tons are not allowed to enter. In 1967, a second import and export center was built at the crack of the Qijin Peninsula market. Its width is 250 meters and water depth is 16 meters. It can be used by 100000 DWT ships. There are 16 deep water terminals, 4 shallow water terminals, 2 landing boat terminals and 3 container storage and transportation centers in the port area. All kinds of ships gather in and out of the harbor, which is very busy.
Current scale
Kaohsiung City, formerly known as Dagu (also known as Dagu) port or Xigang. In the early days, it was the residence of the Pingpu aborigines. It was called "Takau" in its language, and later transliterated as "beating dog" by the Han people. In the period of Japanese colonial rule, because the pronunciation of "Kaohsiung" in Japanese was similar to that of "beating dog", it was changed to "Kaohsiung".
Kaohsiung is a place to live and visit. Most of its scenic spots are scattered in the coastal scenic area of xiziwan, which enjoys the reputation of "Taiwan West Lake". The sea is bright and the water is beautiful. Xizi Bay is full of mountains and sea, with the busy ships from all over the world entering and leaving Kaohsiung port. It has the characteristics of the port capital. In 1980, the local government established the island's only coastal University, National Sun Yat sen University, which added some cultural atmosphere to xiziwan.
The most unforgettable is Qijin scenic spot. Qijin is a peninsula, located in the southwest of Kaohsiung port. It is a long and narrow overseas sandbank with an average width of only 200 meters. It is the earliest old harbor in Kaohsiung City. It was originally connected with Taiwan Island, but in 1967, Kaohsiung Port cut off the Qijin Peninsula stretching out of the open sea in order to open a second port.
It's the most comfortable way to go to Qijin by ferry. You can get on the boat from Gushan ferry station and sail in the inland sea. You can see that there are many small docks and lifting frames on the East Bank of Qijin. You can get to Qijin ferry station in about 10 minutes. Marine resources are the biggest characteristics of Kaohsiung's flag city. Gentle beach, large forest of Casuarina equisetifolia, design of lively landscape architecture and blue ocean constitute the essence of seaside recreation. I took off my shoes and stockings and stepped on the clean and delicate beach shoulder for the first time. For the first time, I was close to the lively sea, and for the first time, I tried my best to kiss the charming sea breeze.
Not far away from the beach, you can see a white lighthouse. It is the lighthouse behind the flag, or Kaohsiung lighthouse. Standing on Qihou mountain in Qijin District of Kaohsiung City, it was built in 1883 and rebuilt in 1918. At present, it is the third grade historic site of Baodao. The tower is 15.2 meters high, the lamp is 58.2 meters high, the light power is 850000 candlelight, and the nominal light path is 25.2 Li.

Tour around Qilu Peninsula
The most interesting thing to do in Kaohsiung is to travel around Qilu peninsula. Take a boat from the ferry yard on the south side of Binhai Road and cross the first port to Qijin station on the opposite side. There are Tianhou palace, lighthouse and bathing beach for people to visit. At night, you can also take a tricycle to look at the fishing fire, which is even more interesting.
Goddess' Palace
Tianhou palace is only about 70 meters away from Qijin station. It is a temple in Southern Fujian. Built in the 30 years of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, this temple is one of the ancient temples in Kaohsiung. It is said that the whole body of Mazu worshiped in the temple was welcomed by seven believers from juanzhou, Fujian Province, on an ancient sailing boat. However, it was only a small temple at that time. Later, it was expanded several times and became today's red brick and wood structure building. In addition to the statue of Mazu Buddha, the temple is empty and there are no antiquities.
Qihoushan
In the northwest of Tianhou palace, there is Qihou mountain, 48 meters above sea level, also known as Paotai mountain. The mountain is composed of coral reef limestone. Its two sides seem to be in a vertical state, standing above the blue wave, which is very steep. Kaohsiung lighthouse stands on the top of Qihou mountain. Looking from the sea, it is really towering. But standing at the foot of the mountain and looking up, it is difficult to see the whole picture of the lighthouse. From here, along the outside of the peninsula, there is a flat, soft beach, which is Qijin bathing beach. Back to the fishing village, there is a flag on the right. The mountain is surrounded by a semicircle. The sea water is clear and the environment is secluded. Especially after the closure of xiziwan bathing beach, it has become the best place for people to enjoy the tide and water. Even in winter, Kaohsiung people also come to the beach to listen to the tides and bask in the sun, so as to enjoy the tranquility that the bustling city does not have.
Special means of transportation
Qijin peninsula is full of local flavor. A tricycle that has been eliminated in Kaohsiung. It is still the main means of transportation on the peninsula. Those who are used to crowded buses in big cities like to take tricycles to enjoy the leisurely pleasure after they come to Qijin. Qijin peninsula is only 2 square kilometers. The streets on the island are short and narrow. The low buildings are in sharp contrast with the scenes of sand beach and Mahuang village, and the high-rise buildings on the other side of the Bay and the bustling downtown area.
Special seafood
When you go to Qijin Peninsula, you like to see the fish market and taste seafood. Kaohsiung fishing port is the largest fishing area on Taiwan Island. There are qianzhen fishing port, Gushan fishing port, Qihou fishing port and Zhongzhou fishing port in the bay. The latter two fishing ports are located on the peninsula. It is rich in lice, mullet, swordfish, shark and so on. There are not only big fish auction houses, but also many small fish stalls. Every night, the nightclub that serves seafood gives off a pungent smell of fish.
market
The busiest place on the peninsula is the market at noon. At noon, the whole street is full of stalls, including fish and shrimp, vegetables, fruits and fresh flowers, popcorn, baked sweet potato, marshmallow, and general merchandise stalls. However, in the middle of the night, in addition to the shining ship lights, fishing lights and lighthouses, the long and narrow Qijin peninsula is like a sleeping dragon, and the sound of the waves hitting the coast is like the sound of a dragon.
