Shanghai Telecom Museum
Shanghai Telecom museum is located at 34 Yan'an East Road, covering an area of about 2500 square meters. It consists of six exhibition areas: telegraph communication, local telephone communication, long-distance telephone communication, wireless communication, comprehensive gathering and temporary exhibition area. It truly records the development of Telecom in twists and turns, revitalization in struggle and transformation in reform. In Shanghai Telecom Museum, we can fully feel the internal relationship between the great changes of Telecom in the past 100 years, the destiny of the country and the development of the city, and stimulate our patriotic feelings. The name of the museum was inscribed by Wu Bangguo, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. In 2012, Shanghai Telecom museum was named "Shanghai patriotism education base".
Telegraph and Communication Exhibition Area
The earliest form of Telecom is telegraph. Shanghai is the first city in China to open telegraph service to the public. On April 18, 1871, Denmark's Dabei Telegraph Company opened telegraph business on the Bund, marking the beginning of Shanghai's telecommunication industry. The exhibition area mainly displays five units: the development of public telegraph equipment, telegraph transmission equipment, fax equipment, carrier equipment and auxiliary equipment. The exhibits include the Morse telegraph used by Danmark Great North Telegraph Company in the late Qing Dynasty, the telegraph lines of foreign telegraph companies entering Shanghai, the stone signboards (reproductions) of Li Hongzhang's "please set up the South North telegraph film" and "telegraph Shanghai Office", the waterline measuring instrument used for laying submarine telegraph lines, telex, 256 channel automatic transmission system, carrier telegraph, etc.
Urban telephone communication exhibition area
It shows the development history of telephone communication in Shanghai since the opening of magnet telephone exchange in March 1882. It is divided into six units: local telephone, telephone set, public telephone, telephone exchange equipment, service equipment and telephone number upgrade. The exhibits include photos of early foreign telecommunication institutions and Shanghai telephone office. There are magnetite telephone, dial and button telephone, rotary system, step-by-step system and vertical and horizontal system.
Wireless communication exhibition area
It shows seven units including radio station, Zhenru transmitter, development of receiving and sending equipment, satellite communication, mobile phone, wireless paging and trunking telephone. The exhibits include the radio stations used in various periods, the important components of the transmitter - high-power electronic tubes, various types of mobile phones, wireless pagers and satellite communication earth station models.
Long distance telephone communication exhibition area
The earliest Shanghai long-distance telephone line was opened in 1923 from downtown to Nanxiang. The international long-distance telephone line was opened on February 15, 1936 from Shanghai to Tokyo, Japan. This part shows four units: long distance telephone, transmission equipment, DD series equipment and submarine cable. The exhibits include the restored work scenes of the switching station, the historical data pictures of the development of international long-distance telephone, the repeater used to amplify the submarine cable transmission signal, and the model of the post and Telecommunications No.1 operation ship specially laying the submarine cable.
Comprehensive exhibition area
Since the first day of the birth of the telephone in Shanghai, Shanghai Telecom has paid attention to the corporate service image, publicized service standards and business projects in the media, and worked hard for users. This part shows the service image, the past and present of the staff, the new and old office rooms, the telecom card, the telecom network card and all kinds of telephone directory. The exhibits include bicycles, radio transmitters, building models of Shanghai information hub building, Shanghai Telecom Building, Hengbang integrated communication building and other communication office rooms used by line operators during the period of Shanghai telephone company; Shanghai telephone magnetic card, 200 telephone card, 201 telephone card, IP telephone card and other card samples.

Morse telegraph is the earliest telegraph used in Shanghai, including manual telegraph, Weston express Telegraph and Crete express telegraph. Because all three machines send telegrams with the code symbols invented by Morse, they are collectively referred to as "Morse telegraph machine".
Information and communication Museum model

Li Hongzhang asked to send a telegram by himself
Since 1871, the diplomatic organizations of many countries have put forward the request of installing telegraph lines to the Qing government or the Shanghai government successively. After being rejected, the Qing government acquiesced. During this period, many people with lofty ideals in our country appealed to run their own telegrams, and Li Hongzhang, the leader of the Westernization Movement, personally wrote to them, which contributed to the rise of China's national telecommunications industry. The General Administration of telegraph was born in Tianjin and the Shanghai telegraph office was established in Shanghai. The self built telegraph circuit between Tianjin and Shanghai was put into operation on December 28, 1881.
1982 150 MHz mobile phone system
On July 1, 1982, Shanghai Telecom launched a 150 MHz mobile phone system, which was jointly developed by the first Research Institute of the Ministry of Posts and telecommunications and Shanghai Radio Factory No.2. The 150 MHz mobile phone is a vehicle type, large in volume, and can only be used on vehicles and ships. For example, it was installed on the Pujiang sightseeing ship at that time for tourists to contact with others on the ship. The terminal is also relatively simple. A telephone and a sucker rod antenna are connected to a host on the side, and its function is equivalent to a mobile phone now. It passes through the basement of qichongtian tower on Nanjing East Road After exchange, the station communicates with the other user.
Big wheel and small wheel bicycles
In the 1930s, when Shanghai telephone company, an American company, was engaged in telephone business in Shanghai, the special large and small wheeled bicycles were used by the operators when they went out. The back uses a small wheel, which can hold a toolbox about 40 cm high. The cover of the tool box is in a bow shape, so that the rainwater on the cover of the box can be drained as soon as possible when going out in rainy days, so as to prevent rust and protect the tools in the box.
