Dakai reservoir was built in 1958. It was built in September 1965 to store 400 million cubic meters of water. It is the second largest reservoir in Guangxi. Development history

In 1958, Guixian and Guiping jointly built the Dakai reservoir and dammed the outlet of the Malay River, accumulating 427 square kilometers of rainfall in the Longshan basin. The reservoir, 30 km long from north to South and 3 km wide from east to west, has a total area of 80 square kilometers and a water storage capacity of 400 million cubic meters, more than three times that of Hangzhou West Lake. It is the second largest reservoir in Guangxi. It irrigates 450000 mu of fertile land in eight townships of Qingfeng, Dawu, Gangcheng, Wule in Gangbei District of Guigang City and Baisha, Shilong, Houlu and Mengwei in Guiping city.

The water of Dakai reservoir mainly comes from the Malay river. The water quality is clean and suitable for the growth of all kinds of fish.
