Sichuan Science and Technology Museum is one of the ten landmark projects of cultural facilities construction in Sichuan Province during the Tenth Five Year Plan period. On November 2, 2006, the museum officially opened with a total area of 41961 square meters, including more than 20 permanent exhibition halls (Aerospace Exhibition Area, machinery exhibition area, virtual world exhibition area, robot exhibition area, Vientiane exhibition area, information technology exhibition area, life science exhibition area, ecology and environment exhibition area, etc.) and three theme exhibitions. There are five floors in the museum. The first floor includes aerospace exhibition area, Ertan Hydropower model, Dujiangyan water conservancy project model and ring screen 4D cinema; the second floor includes mechanical exhibition hall, electric and magnetic exhibition hall, robot exhibition hall, virtual world exhibition hall, time tunnel, etc.; the third floor includes sound and light exhibition hall, ecological and environmental exhibition hall, Tiandi Wanxiang exhibition hall, etc.; and the fourth floor is mainly young people's science and technology exhibition There are also academic lecture hall and academician hall on the fifth floor. The construction of Sichuan Science and Technology Museum is supported by many scientific research institutions in Sichuan and Chengdu Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Institute of automation, Institute of optoelectronics, Chengdu Institute of biology and Chengdu Institute of mountain science of Chinese Academy of sciences have donated relevant exhibits and pictures to Sichuan Science and Technology Museum respectively. According to statistics, 14 institutions have donated a total of 15.595 million yuan of exhibits. It is worth mentioning that many of the exhibits in the science and Technology Museum are made in Chengdu. For example, the dynamic simulation hydraulic model of J-7 III aircraft from Chengdu aircraft group, wp-6 turbojet engine from Chengdu Engine Group, Chengdu Exploration Institute, and dinosaur model from University of science and technology. In the science and Technology Museum, except for 3-5 projects such as future driving and space command, which need to pay a certain amount of participation fees, all other projects are open to the public free of charge. Considering the safety of public places, the science and Technology Museum has set the maximum level limit for daily visitors.
