The shell is large and strong, about 9 cm high and 8 cm wide. There are about 5-6 layers of spirochetes, with obvious sutures, high shell top, round body spirochetes, and uniform increase in the width of each layer. There are well-developed spiral ribs on the surface of the shell, and there are fine ribs between the ribs. Generally, there are two rows of strong semicircular spines on the spiral layer, about 10-11 in each row. The shell surface is gray cyan, the base of shell is expanded, and the growth pattern and color of spiral rib are similar to that of shell surface. The outer lip is simple, and the lower part of the inner lip is expanded and thickened. No umbilicus. The outer surface is grayish green and grayish yellow, with dense small granular protrusions. There is a vortex like carving in the center and below; the inner surface is slightly flat, with 4 threads, and the core is slightly below. The body is soft with slender antennae and well developed feet.
It lives on the rocky seafloor near the low tide line. It is distributed in the coastal area south of Zhejiang Province.
[medicinal material] is a round sheet with a diameter of 1-4 cm and a thickness of 0.2-1 cm. The inner surface is slightly flat, showing spiral lines, sometimes with brown film-like material; the outer surface is uplifted, with significant or insignificant spiral ridges, and the depression is densely covered with small dot like protrusions. The material is hard and heavy, and the section is not smooth. The air is weak and the taste is salty.

This product is used as mica in Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Gansu, Shaanxi, Jilin, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Shanxi, Tianlu, Wuhan and other places.
