Jinqicao
(Ben Jing)
[synonym] jinfocao, baizhihu (classified herbal medicine), xuanfugang, huanghuacao (Suzhou native medicine), bupleurum and huangchaihu (Chongqing herbal medicine).
[source] the stems and leaves of Compositae plants, such as Convolvulus, Convolvulus linearis, Convolvulus macrocephala, etc. The plant morphology is detailed in the "Convolvulus" section.

[medicinal material] the dried stems and leaves are 30-60 cm long. The surface of the stems is yellowish brown to purple black with fine longitudinal lines and dots at the base. The leaf scar is clear, the quality is solid and hard, the broken face is yellowish white, and there are white pith or pores in the center. The leaves are mostly fallen off or broken, and the remaining leaves are black green, broadly lanceolate, curling outward and brittle. Sometimes stem apex with yellow head. The taste is slightly bitter.
