[plant morphology] perennial herb, sometimes clustered; roots slightly thick, near the end often expanded into rectangular round, spindle shaped small roots; rhizome short, with underground stem. Leaves basal, gramineous, 20-45 cm long, 4-6 mm wide; apex acute or obtuse, with 5 veins, margin serrate. Scape usually longer than or nearly equal to leaf, 20-50cm long; raceme 6-10cm long, with many flowers, 2-5 flowers clustered in bract axil; raceme grows leaf clusters or seedlings in bract axil after anthesis; bract is small, lanceolate; pedicel is about 4mm long; perianth is oblong lanceolate, purple; filament is about 2mm long; anther is about 2mm long; ovary is nearly spherical, style is about 2mm long; stigma is about 2mm long It's not obvious. Seeds subglobose. The flowering period is from May to July and the fruiting period is from August to October.
It is mainly produced in Hubei Province.
