[plant morphology] perennial herb. The stem is smooth, 15-40cm high. Leaves usually alternate, sometimes subopposite or subwhorled, ovate oblong to oblong lanceolate, 5-12cm long, 1-3.5cm wide, apex not curly, and with hard apex. The flowers are solitary on the top of the stem or several fasciculate, pale yellow, with dark red spots on the inner surface. Each flower has 1-2 leaflike bracts, the tip of which is not curled. The perianth is 6, and the nectary nest is prominent on the back. The stamens are 6. Capsule oblong, 6-ribbed, with broad wings on the ribs. The flowering period is May.
It grows under forest or on sunny slope grassland with altitude of 1300-1780m. It is mainly produced in Xinjiang.
