Deciduous shrub, 2-3m high. Stems erect, smooth, with scattered lenticels; branchlets spreading, glabrous. Leaves opposite, ovate to ovate oblong, 4-9 cm long and 2-6 cm wide, apex acuminate, base broadly cuneate, round or truncate, hairy at the top, glabrescent, yellow white villi at the bottom, double serrated at the edge; petiole 3-5 mm long, yellow white villi at the pedicel; stipules strip. Flowers solitary, new branch apex, 3-4 cm in diameter; calyx tube short, lobes 4, ovate, serrate, persistent, alternate with 4 epicalyx; petals 4, suborbicular, white; stamens numerous; carpels 4, ovary superior. Drupe 4, bright black, obovate, 7-8 mm long, glabrous. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruiting period is July.

It grows under the sparse forest on the hillside and beside the valley. It is distributed in Liaoning, Shandong, Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei and other places.
