Perennial herbs, 15-35 cm high. Rhizome short and erect, densely scaly. The petioles are 5-10 cm long, reddish brown, jointed, with hairs and scales on petioles and rachis, and the scales are light brown and lanceolate. Leaf blade narrowly lanceolate to linear, 10-25 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, pinnately divided; pinnae oblong lanceolate, often falcate curved, 1-2.5 cm long, 3-7 mm wide, apex obtuse, base obliquely modular, upper auricular, sessile, entire. The sporangium group is round, with a row near the edge of the feather; the sporangium group is bowl shaped, irregularly lobed; the sporangium is spherical, with a thin stalk.
