Annual herb, 0.5-1 m high. Stem erect, hollow, round, with grooves on the surface, slightly branched. Leaves alternate, lanceolate to oblong, 8-14 cm long, 1-2.8 cm wide, apex acuminate, base acute, entire, the closer to the top of the stem, the smaller the leaf; stipe glabrous; stipules sheath shaped, quite long, membranous. The flowers are bisexual, yellowish green, with many clusters in the axils of cotyledons, and then a raceme composed of most flowers; the pedicel is slender, with nodes at the lower part; the calyx is 6-lobed, 3 small, linear oblong, green, 3 large, triangular ovate or rhombic on the inner surface; the fruit is yellowish brown and reticulate when ripe; there is an oblong raised tumor in the middle of each back, and 2-6 needlelike spikelets on the edge . Nutlets triangular, enclosed in enlarged inner calyx, yellowish brown. The flowering period is from March to April. The fruit period is from June to July.
Born in hillside wetland, roadside, farmland. It is distributed in Guangxi, Guangdong and other places.
