[plant morphology] Alpinia Alpina
Perennial herbs, 15-30 cm high. Stem erect, spreading villous. Leaflets 3, oblong obovate, 2-4 cm long, 0.8-1.2 cm wide, apex acute, base gradually narrowed, glabrous above, densely spreading villous below; stipules oblong ovate. Flowers yellow: 2.2-2.6 cm long, whorled, 2-3 flowers per round; calyx campanulate, lower 3 calyx teeth lanceolate, upper 2 calyx teeth triangular, densely spreading villous. Pods oblong to broadly lanceolate, 3-6 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, pilose. 4-8 seeds. The flowering period is from May to June.
Born in the wild. Distributed in Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Yunnan, Tibet and other places.

[collection] harvest from June to September.
[chemical constituents] the aerial part contains xanthine and genistein. The content of flavonoids in leaves at flowering stage was 3.36%.
[pharmacological action] the effect of genistein is similar to that of nicotine, which first excites and then inhibits the plant ganglion, and its effect on sympathetic ganglion is more obvious than that of nicotine. The lethal dose of warfarin to mice was 0.00125g/20g body weight, and the minimum toxic dose was 0.0005g.
[nature and taste] it is cold in nature, bitter in taste and has little poison.
