Perennial herbs. The underground stem is thin and weak. The above ground stem is erect, 20-40 cm high, with dense upper branches and fan-shaped branches. The leaves of branchlets are usually 6-Row, subulate lanceolate, apex acute, entire, 2-4 mm long, leathery. The sporangium is cylindrical, 5-8 cm long, solitary at the top of the terminal branch, yellowish brown; the sporophyll is broad and ovoid, the apex is acute, with a short stalk, and the margin is slightly irregular with coarse teeth; the sporangium is round kidney shaped, yellowish brown, born in the axil of the sporophyll; the spore is tetrahedral.
Born on the hillside under the forest. It is distributed in most areas of China.
In Sichuan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi and other places, this product and the whole grass of the same genus Lycopodium are called extensor grass, and used equally. Please refer to the "stretching grass" section.
