Shrub, 1-2.5m high. Stem erect, brownish red, branchlets numerous, coarsely hairy, old gradually glabrous, with suborbicular lenticels. Single leaf opposite, closely arranged; obovate, 12-21 mm long, 9-15 mm wide, apex obtuse or slightly pointed, base cuneate, leaf margin with shallow undulate obtuse teeth, veins protruding below, hairy; petiole 3-6 mm long. Cymes arranged in panicles; flowers white, pedicels less than 3 mm long; corolla tubular, apex 5-lobed, lobes obtuse; stamens 5-lobed. Drupe red. Hot shield dark, elliptic, ca. 5. 4 mm long. One seed, oblong, 5-ribbed, often adherent to pulp. It blooms in summer.
