[plant morphology] Dryopteris orientalis
Perennial evergreen herbs, up to 1-2 meters high. Rhizome stout, transverse, densely covered with brown ovate lanceolate scales. The leaves are clustered, the petioles are long and thick, and the base is densely covered with scales; the leaves are triangular oblong, twice pinnate, leathery, with broad lanceolate pinnae, sharp apex, asymmetric base, with pinnate cleft; the lobes are falcate and linear, with 2-3 cm long serrate or entire margin on the upper part, and often with asexual buds; there are 2-3 lines of mesh on both sides of the main vein. The sporangia are oblong linear, attached to a row of reticulate veins on both sides of the main vein; the sporangia are brown, dural, and split to the side of the middle rib at maturity.
