[plant morphology] perennial herb, 1.5-3m high. The rhizome is on the ground. Leaf blade lanceolate to linear, 20-35cm long, 3-7cm wide, smooth and glabrous on both sides; ligule semicircular, 0.3-0.5cm long. Inflorescence elliptic; bracts lanceolate, membranous; bracteoles tubular, membranous; flowers white, apex with 3 shallow teeth; corolla tube 1.8 cm long, lobes 16-2 cm long, white; labellum white, midvein raised, yellow and purplish red, base with 2 purple gate spots; connective appendages 3-lobed, both sides auricular; ovary pilose. The capsule is green at maturity and the soft spines on the pericarp are flat. The flowering period is from May to June and the fruiting period is from August to September.
Born in wet places under the forest. It is mainly produced in Yunnan.
