Perennial herbs, 60-90 cm high. Rhizome thick, cylindrical, light yellow, thick roots, most. Leaves 2-row alternate, narrowly elliptic to elliptic lanceolate, 25-35 cm long, 3-6 cm wide, apex pointed, base gradually narrowed, or shortly petiolate, glabrous above, sparsely long hairy below, or subglabrous, midvein stout, lateral veins pinnate, subparallel; leaf sheathed, amplexicaul, ligule 2-lobed, 1 cm long.
