[source] it is the root bark of Paulownia fortunei.
[plant morphology] Paohua tree
Deciduous shrubs or small trees, 4-6 m high. Branches erect, grayish brown. Leaves alternate, shortly stipitate, obovate, 7-15 cm long, 3-7 cm wide, apex acute or acuminate, base cuneate, margin undulate serrate, glabrous above, tufted below vein axils. Panicle terminal, rachis rusty pubescent; flowers small, yellow white, 6 mm in diam. Drupe globose, 5 mm in diam., black at maturity. The flowering period is July. The fruiting period is September.
It grows in the mixed forest on the mountain slope or beside the ditch. It is distributed in Shaanxi, Henan, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Yunnan and other provinces.
